This sounds a lot like yelling "lick your balls" at your dog 1/2 second after he starts licking his balls and claiming credit.

Well now that it's established, and we know that you know... concern yourselves with what you want from your MEC only. Do not worry about what we're doing over here at Pinnacle. That's the JNC responsibility to know those things. That's the integration committee's responsibility to know those things.

You've demonstrated clearly that you do not want to understand our motives for doing this. Quit bashing our reps. You'll have an opportunity to vote for new ones once this is complete, and so will 1250 of us.

By the way, we're not about to recall any of ours.

My MEC Speaks For Me.

 

This is where I am confused. Just because the 9E line guys requested the picket, was it the right thing to do? Is the squeky wheel the one that gets the grease? In other words, did all 9e really want to do this, or just a very vocal minority. The 9E MEC did in fact go rogue, whether forced by their pilot or not, it is still the same thing. According to our updates, all MECs agree that progress is being made, and that both sides feel we are close. So, either the MECs are lying (9Es included) or the 9E MEC felt it was cornered by a vocal part of their pilot group and decided to appeast them even though there was not a good reason to do it (remember, they agree that things are progressing).
As far as MEC leadership style, you don't want militant, and you don't want passive, you want a little of both. I do not want an MEC that hits the nuclear button over every grievance, and I certainly do not want an MEC bows to pressure even if it is bad for all invoved.
Again, lets all get through this, and hopefully we can carve out a decent airline for us all to work at, and hopefully move on if we choose to do so.

 

This is a unrealistic notion you have.

First off, you ask us why we dont concern ourselves with the MSA and CJC MEC's. Simple answer is that the PCL MEC is directy affecting the lives of MSA and CJC pilots. You are sadly mistaken if you think that the PCL MEC does not have input over the PCL NC and direct them in one way or another on how to proceed with things. So sorry to break it to you but the MEC's work directly with the JCBA. Why do you think there are MEC reps present at the negotiations? So when you want your MEC to act "millitant" as you described it in fact affects us all and maybe our pocket book.

 

Once again, we've heard this before. When I was hired at Pinnacle, I was told by both the company and the union "progress is being made, and we are close." Fast forward several years, and the TA presented to the pilot group was crap, yet it was told "this is the best we can get." We voted it down. Fast forward another year, and it's like groundhog day "We're close and making progress." Unless sections are closed, "progress" is about like running 3/4 of a marathon and sitting down. Sure, you're closer than when you started, but you're not there yet. Are we any closer now than we were on Wednesday? Nope. All of our momentum was on Wednesday, and I'm not all that impressed with the sections closed. All the BIG sections still remain open. Get Section 25 closed (which is where the company like to screw people over the most), and then I'll start to get excited. If picketing was canceled just because airlines were "making progress," there would never be any picketing events.

I'm with you there, but I feel like a broken record whenever I try to explain the "whys" of the picketing events. It's not to derail the JCBA, it's to put pressure on management to actually follow through, something they historically have been VERY poor at. We probably should have had picketing events all through the summer, but I guess we were "close and making progress" the whole time. After all, the same sections left in the JCBA are the same ones we've been trying to close since the beginning of 2010.

 

Sure, just like the XJ MEC has input over their pilots. Which is why the XJ NC members don't think JM or extension language is that big of a deal. XJ had around 27 junior mans in a year. We hit that by mid-afternoon in a DAY here at 9E. It's how management staffs the airline. One of the things still left open is JM/extension language. Not only are we having to find a compromise with the company, we're trying to find a compromise with EACH OTHER on it as well. Same thing with how much pilots can pick up on their days off.

I doubt any XJ pilot is poorer today because we're picketing, so I don't see how the picketing affects people's pocket books. In the end, the MECs give their NCs direction, and the JNC hammers out a deal. ANY of the three MECs can stop the deal dead in it's tracks right then and there, so in that regard all three MECs have equal power. If the deal passes all three MECs, then it's up to all of us to determine if it's a good deal or not.

 

Why are you posting on a public forum? Maybe you should keep your posts for your own company/union board.

 

Let me get this straight... Folks ask questions and issue a bash when it's answered from a true source. The confusion continues.

 

Why don't you two take a play from the XJ MEC and keep your mouths shut on public boards? Especially considering only a fraction of your pilot groups are actively on here. Perhaps an email notifcation or an ALL PILOT (9E, XJ, 9L) conference call with all 3 MEC's would be a better course of action. That way you guys can explain exactly what is going on here, for ALL PILOTS. Instead of all this GARBAGE!
