Pinnacle/Colgan/Mesaba TA Countdown

I have a lot of respect to most 9E pilots. As I read a lot of these posts I wonder. Is 9E management the problem or is the 9E MEC the problem?
A lot of the exact same issues 9E is facing regarding management has already been seen by most XJ pilots. We went through bankruptcy. If you wanna talk about management going for cuts, we know all about it. But we came out of it pretty well. Is it because management caved...no. The MEC controlled the situation and ensured a positive outcome.
I really think the problem is 9E MEC. I would call it a complete lack of leadership and vision for what they want. Even though pilots are screaming for demonstrations, they need to remain level headed. Most people let their emotions run wild, the MEC cannot.
Regardless of what you think about the picketing, whether it was right or wrong, I think the 9E MEC has done an extremely poor job over the past few years and it continues. A couple picketing events will not change this perception.

What has the 9E MEC been telling its pilots?
Highlights of the latest CJC Update:
· Scope protections that ensure our job security and completely prevent the whipsawing of one carrier against another, including any carrier newly crafted or purchased by Holdings
· Date-of-signing pay rates that include immediate raises for almost all positions along with a split F/O pay scale
· An increase in minimum days off to 11 days for all positions, including reserve lines
· A minimum credit of 4 hours for each duty period worked, including reserves
· Industry-leading retirement
· Long call reserve
Just wondering if all parties were getting the same information, because I hear a lot of 9E guys complaining that nothing major has been agreed to yet.

Again, if there were no picketing going on, certain individuals in our union would more than likely be served recall notices.

I won't answer for IB but I can think of 2 or 3 biggies...
1. That 9e pilots and MEC want to go rogue and undermine the JCBA to go off on their own.
2. The whole ALPA national doesn't support the picket idea.
3. That the JCBA is close to being done
and that management wants it done

Maybe it's the way the information is delivered then. It seems like the MSA and CJC MECs point out the significant progress being made at the table while the PCL MEC has focused on what hasn't been done. Glass half full glass half empty.

The MEC Chairman who was elected in 2007 was re-elected in 2010. He had no vote in TA1.
It was clear, however, that he opposed TA1. At the road shows, you could most certainly tell.
We have removed the offending negotiators, and 2 of 8 Reps. ATL will never change, unfortunately (2 automatic yes votes), and 1/2 of MSP is still a "yes". Luckily, DTW is keeping the sanity with an original, "no" group.
I have confidence in my MEC Chair that he is doing the job to the best of his ability. We can also not afford to open up the chairmanship to the North Mississippi Flying Club...

but it's the biggest sections that are left to be open..pay and vacation and work rules. whoopie we made progress on Hijacking insurance, uniform allowance, per diem and hawaiian shirt day every Monday. That is the way Pinnacle pilots see it.

^^^^^^this is one thing that Mesaba and Colgan guys can not and do not understand since they do not have daily access to our message board and conversations with our pilots.
9e PILOTS have been demading a picket for the last few months when the other "deadlines" were not met by the company. Had this deadline come and went, there would have been riots toward our MEC had they not decided to picket this time. That is one thing you other guys need to understand....

The PCL MEC knows where their bread is buttered and it is in the form of a 120 hour buy out for some without having to touch an airplane. They last thing they want is to face a recall or deal with the anger amongst the tribe. To them I felt it was more of a "lets anger CJC and MSA rather than our own troops." Self preservation at its finest.
Now I agree that the reps have to answer to their pilots but one could argue either way if their actions were truly the best course for the entire group. They just as easily could have told the pilots of CJC that they will work though this process and we will all picket when all MEC's+National decide the time is right. It would have been a much more powerful statement of force and unity going down this road, in my opinion.

and that management wants it doneWhen ALPA National did support the picket in August before it was cancelled they inlcuded information regarding it in the weekly FastRead.
They also solicited for pilots to join in the UAL/CAL informational pickets in a weekly FastRead.
But yeah, it's just a rumor we at 9L and XJ started...
