Are you really the 9E MEC Chair? If so you really should think twice about posting opinions and such on a public message board. It's extremely inappropriate! Unbelievable

You should cut your loss here and not reappear. ALPA Unior Reps have zero business posting on public message boards.

So you'd actually rather have useless speculation and rumor?

I love this cloak of secrecy that "The Union" is supposed to have.

I'd rather have them out in public answering questions and trying to keep us on the straight and narrow.

I'm sure we'd really like to see Pratard and Mohawk get on here and keep us informed, but they never do...

Especially since Pratard was incensed we voted no.

Even everyone at the picket wants a JCBA
I hope you're right mooney, I did not come up with this on my own but from many of friends that work for 9E telling me about the crewroom talk going on around there.

And it comes from a misguided perception that PNCL management will just move the jets from XJ.

They have stated that they want 9E to be jets and XJ props, but if 9E is still in section 6 negotiations, and you know better than I, they are bound to do just about anything in a confrontational situation.

I understand the whole "those who don't learn from the past are destined to repeat it" idea, i do. Let me ask you how long it took you guys to get your first TA from the time you started negotiating?" Even more appropriate would probably be the question "how long did it take you to get the sections that are currently TA'd on your first go around?"
It was much longer then 3 months. So this isn't even close to being what you had gone through. No one here is going to wait 5 more years for a JCBA. I don't see it going very much longer before everyone agrees that it's been too long. But we haven't hit that point yet.

When I first heard 9E was picketting I thought it wasnt the right move but I was shining my shoes to join you. Then I heard XJ wasn't pushing its pilots to join and I thought well thats interesting how they arent on the same page but I was still going to go since the majority(9E/9L) were still for it. Then I got the memo saying 9L wasn't going to be pushing their pilots either and I then thought, "well if the majority of those involved dont think its the appropriate time then it must not be". Thats what 9E's MEC should have done from the start. Had they gotten either of the other MEC's to join then this would be a completely different story.

If you want answers from a union rep, set up a ALPA forum on a 9e pilot only site. Our union reps are only allowed to write on our ALPA forum. I agree that it is unprofessional to have reps post on a public forum. Don't you think that PT has someone reading this and reporting back to him. Use some common sense.

Once again we have an entirely different culture on this issue. Just because XJ and Delta do it one way, doesn't mean it's the right way for us. Ironically, I was contacted about picketing support from FDX and ASA reps through this site from reps who were common posters. Our issue was space in MEM. There is NOTHING in bylaws or the PCL Policy manual that mention that we cannot post simply because we are reps. A big MEC issue (about a year ago) was transparency and we have worked very hard to keep things open. It appears the only ones that have issues are NON 9E pilots/posters.

Just because you want your reps to keep you in the dark...

I firmly believe in public disclosure. Any secret between reps and line pilots is not welcome. And there's nothing we're discussing that is of overly sensitive nature that may offend a Fedex or Delta or etc... person...

If we don't have this sort of transparency, we'll end up signing "PPA" cards... Pinnacle Pilots Association... I don't need a union with secrecy as a tenet.

Do the XJ Reps enjoy reading attacks on them on public forums with no opportunity to respond?

I second that transparency idea. As long as tact and common sense are used in saying what they're saying on these boards what does it matter if they post?

Plus, what better way to get a feel for what a person is really about when it comes time to vote them in?
