The Q will be a seperate rate but the rate will be the same as 50 seat jet. Colgan is not being thrown to the wolves. As far as picking up below min days... As you can see it's a difference in views from both sides. With 3,000 pilots and limited open time left in the system after bid awards the guys that want to work can, those who cherish days off can plan whatever they want on days off. I have heard Mesaba's view point and I feel I know the pinnacle pilots' view. Being that we are 3 MEC's working together each MEC is tasked with upholding the views of the their respective pilots. In the end I am confident that all 3 groups will be pleased with the outcome.

As a Mesaba guy, I am not pleased with the 11 days off redusable to 10. I would much rather see 12 reducable (only by the pilot) down to 10. I would like to see the ability of pilots to be able to pick up at least 1 overnight if they so choose. The way most pairings are built these days if you can't pick up at least 1 overnight it's either not able to be picked up or it's not wort picking up. And those of us on reserve could use an oportunity to make a little extra money. Bring back build up reserve pay and I wouln't need to be looking to pick up open time though, so..... Besides I'd rather a lineholder voluntarily pick up these open trips for extra pay than me having to do them for nothing extra.

For clarification in your "reducible" comment- are your referring to the company's ability to JA/extend into days off or the pilot's ability to pick up down in days off? I know you mention picking up an overnight but are you considering all days off "golden" in that you cannot be touched and you would like 12 with the ability to pick up 2 (to include an overnight)? Currently you are limited to 1 day, which is where this discussion's heart is based.

This is now my 3rd airline. I've worked at Air Wisconsin (12 days off), Mesaba (11 days off as you know), and now Pinnacle with 10 days off. Out of the three, which one was the best? Obviously Air Wisconsin for the amount of days off. I'm also all for getting anything that we can get to "raise the bar." Do I want to see the best in the industry of days off, pay, and reserve/work rules? Hell yes I do. However, at the same time you have to understand that your not going to be able to get every single thing you want out of a contract. Let me ask, what part of the contract are you willing to ease up on in order to get that many days off? Honestly for me I would be happy for 11 days off if I can get better work rules which can equate for soft money, or hard money in pay rates. In no way am I being a defeatist with my thoughts, but I'm being realistic in the thought process. You were there during the shamruptcy if I'm not mistaken, so I know you understand how this process works.

However, I agree. I would like to have it where the days off are "golden," and the company cannot reduce you below those days without your permission.

Mesaba guys,
I've said it before and I'll say it again- you are not negotiating with reasonable, level-headed management. This is PNCL Corp. they will never give in to 12 days off. You will be fortunate to get 5-6% over the life of the contract.

This is a management team that has never and will never view labor as an asset. Plus - you are now publicly traded, so all of their moves are watched as well...

I wish it weren't that way for you guts, but it is.

It would be unfortunate if the combined contract gets turned down because we were stupid in negotiating a fair rate close to the 900.
Let's see, it comes to reasonable TA, 65% Mesaba = 780; 65% Pinnacle = 845; total = 1625; and 51% of 3000 = 1530.......

Vote down? I'm not following.......

Yoda -So... you mean to tell me that most Colgan pilots could potentially see 20-30% raises and you guys would vote NO if your Q400 pay didn't equal 900 pay? Hello? big picture?

There is a faction that would not be happy with anything less than 900 pay.

There is a faction that will grumble but vote yes.

And there a a faction that will be happy with anything.

My guess is the grumblers will be in the majority.

As to days off, unless there are good rules for scheduling, days off have little meaning. 12 days off with four day trips that start at oh dark thirty and end at 2300 is no better than 10 days off with 1600 shows and 1000 releases. The devil is in the details folks.

It has to pass all 3 MECs, then all 3 pilot groups. If 100% vote yes at PNCL and XJ, but 49% at Colgan- the TA is dead. No one gets anything.

Someone hasn't been easing their FastReads...
