Email yesterday stating the intial bid for Iah and msp were filled with no displacements. 37 cap and fo's to Iah and 22 cap and fo's to msp. Well short of the initial projected 100 crews to Iah and 80 to msp. Not sure what it means exactly. Anyone who does cares to chime in?

I don't think it will be a war. The new UAL is willfully violating their CBA with CALALPA. We all know that the new UAL is required to operate within both the UAL contract and The CAL contract. The CAL contract clearly states that 70 seat rj's are not allowed; this is not simply a transfer of flying.
And now we find out that no pilot was displaced into IAH; all went enthusiastically.

In all honesty, I think that a SKW pilot on a CAL jumpseat is a potential distraction that degrades safety of flight. No prob if you ride in the back. But if I hear another SKW pilot state, "this is not new flying, it's just a trasnfer" on my jumpseat......... Know that it is very new flying to a CAL pilot. New flying that willfully abrogates our contract. New flying that SKW pilots do willingly and enthusiastically, as there were no displacements. Personally, I don't mind a SKW pilot on my jumpseat, as I am not in danger of immediate furlough. But some guys will not be able to tolerate your short-sighted ambition. Happy IAH RJ flying, you'll be doing it for a LONG time.

I will agree that this is new flying. It is a clear violation of the spirit of your scope. If there was a transition agreement that things would stay status quo at both airlines then it is a violation of your contract and should be a slam dunk for your union.
But i will say that the minority here is excited about this flying, only 74 total pilots signed on for it out of 2800. There are pilots here who are going nowhere and don't care what happens to anyone else who is planning on moving on. But I would venture to guess that here are pilots at every airline who only care about themselves. I for one want nothing to do with this flying and would be content flying metros or brasilias for the chance to go to mainline. I personally am rooting for you guys because I don't want to be at a regional for the rest of my career, and I'm not alone with that sentiment. If you get a guy in th js bragging about this flying educate them. Good luck with stopping this flying and I say that sincerely.

So, you're upset that the CAL MEC has something to say about a scope violation?

Do you enjoy flying mainline routes with almost equivalent mainline aircraft for 1/3 the pay and none of the work rules?

Is your ambition truly to stay at Skywest for life?

If I accept the bid I will not be going because I am enthusiastic about the flying. I would go because I am not enthusiastic about commuting with an additional 500 displaced XJT crewmembers. I seriously hope you guys move past your pay issues and get focused on bringing back flying in-house even if you put me on the street temporarily. I would rather fly a RJ on the United seniority list than at a regional.

Is Skywest overstaffed? How can they support all of this new flying? Are the pilots comming from Xjet/ASA or Skywest? Does anyone know the staffing levels of Skywest?

The pilots are coming from the other bases, mainly ORD. There are no additional aircraft coming to skywest. We are short staffed by maybe 100 or so and running a few classes right now.

This is a one-for-one reduction from our other bases, including closing SBA. This is NOT a happy thing for 99% of the folks at SKW, although anyone who lives in IAH is may be OK with it.

The first bid was completed with volunteers. Based on their projected numbers they will have to do additional awards, which will probably involve some junior assignments.

Keep in mind that most of the volunteers probably live nearby. If a SKW person is commuting from California, ORD, SLC, DEN they almost certainly got junior-manned and would rather be back home.

Look if your gonna bash regionals at least get your facts staight. The RJ's we're talking about have 66 seats. That's not equivalent to a 737, that's around half the capacity. As for work rules you're completely wrong also. Block or better, min day, premium pay, voluntary Jr man, holiday pay whether you work or not, 100% deadhead.

And before you label me an eager beaver IAH SkyWest stereotype know that I was on the ALPA OC last time around, think this whole deal sucks and will never fly a 700 out of IAH on the CAL code.

Are you f'ing kidding me?? Thankfully you are one of a kind and will most certainly fold like a little girl when you meet an actual SKW pilot in the B terminal. Hopefully you aren't a captain and are far from holding the left seat, but if you are one and deny me a jumpseat based on your distorted worldview I will gladly report you to your pro standards committee. Misuse of the jumpseat is grounds for termination so on second thought, deny anyway buddy.

BTW if this is flamebait, well done sir.
This is comical... a Skywest pilot calling a XJT pilot a "co-worker". What part of non-union, different seniority list, riding on union coattails (read crewpass), whipsaw makes that a co-worker. Koolaid at its best.
