This does come back later, this guy has applied everywhere and the only two places that have called him are lakes and gulfstream. I think he has 3 pink slips.

Thats like being a dentist and getting a call from the welfare clinic and a funeral home.
I think he had an offer at an above average time building job that he passed on. You gotta jump at good opportunities.

It'll be interesting to see what happens Monday as I am going to apply for a Captain spot. While I was told over the phone they can't hire directly into the Captain seat, I would not have to pay for training, just sign a two year contract, which I don't mind doing right now. But no way am I going to pay for training.

I did but I had a major family emergency which I just couldn't jive with a part time job. Sucks because they are an awesome company that treated me right and with respect through the whole process. I bowed out gracefully and if I want to reapply next season I wont be looked down upon. It's been a very hectic year with some major ups and downs and that's just part of life. It's all how you deal with those situations.

I got half way through page 4 of this thread and said screw it. You guys that are going to the interviews, and accepting these jobs should all be ashamed of yourselves. You are stepping on the neck and suffocating the industry. If I ever sit on the hiring board of anything, and you walk into the room with GIA on your resume, expect to be shown the door promptly.

Financially it's not feasible for me to finish the checkrides and then instruct. I make decent money now and while a job at any regional is a loss in pay compared to current salary it's a somewhat "stable" job. Plus I can just continue to build time in my own airplane which imo is great.

Then I'll contact your manager, CEO and Chief pilot and you'll quickly get an e-mail asking why you didn't hire perfectly qualified pilot while when we need pilots.

With the PFT deal, considering a monthly guarantee of 75 hours, first year pay at GIA works out to be $14/hr.

So have they retracted their offer? What do you mean that can't hire directly into the Captain's seat. You mean that I am going to interview for Street Hire Captain, but they wont hire you me directly into the Captain seat? What do you mean by this...

Most places do not tell you why you are not hired.... And airlines trust their hiring board members quite a bit. They would not side with you and they wouldnt say anything to him. Good luck with that.

It appears the whole street captain thing is now up in the air. When I was waiting to get into the sim they had 2 guys who paid the $25K and then furloughed recalled and getting them current again. Only had like maybe 4 days to get back into and let me tell you this it wasn't pretty and the sim instructor was not taking it lightly with them. She was pretty damn tough with them and me.
