You said that when you got back that you would give a detailed account of your interview experience. Since there seems to be a few on the forum here who will be following you in the interview process, it might be helpful to give them an unabashed view of the process.

Went to the Sheltair FBO and met with the CP and an HR girl whom were both very nice. No technical questions were asked at all just some standard HR type. CP was quick to jump to the contract and pay questions and answers. After we discussed I took finger prints and went to the training center for a 50 question test based off of the Commercial and ATP written exams. 80% or better to carry on and 8/10 questions are 121 regs so that could be a deal breaker if you don't know the other questions well. It was very easy and the only questions I think I answered wrong were the 121's out of the ATP side. (I passed with a 42/50 so I'm guessing I got all the 121 questions wrong.) After that was a sim eval in the Beech 1900 fixed motion sim they have. Standard take off RWY 9 direct to a VOR. Upon turning inbound I was vectored to the ILS 9L and flew the Glide slope pretty much down to the runway. Sim instructor said I did well and that I would be seeing her soon. They dropped me off at the airport and all was done. Everyone was real nice and my only personal gripes are that we all seem to be misled about paying for training there and signing a contract. That is my only negative about them. I wouldn't mind working there minus all this contract garbage.

I'd have to give a hoot and quite frankly I don't. Every point I've brought up is a valid one against what they are doing..... Even if they said we have reason to believe you are posting about us on a forum; you know what I would say? Yes I am and I'm a man of my word in the end that's all I have, but them.... they haven't been honest with a single soul since the minute they called me/us from the get go. Maybe if they were truthful from the beginning I wouldn't have 5-10 different PM's from people wondering what they heck is going on. Not one person has told me a similar story.

Did you turn down GLA or were you eventually not offered a position there - at least yet?
And this other Aerial Survey company that you turned down after they offered you a position. You said that you decided to keep this pretty good paying job that you have right now and are you still flying the C90, building some good ME Turbine time? Is it the draw of the airline type flying - even for ones like GLA and GIA - that are keeping you on the edge?
Thanks for sharing the interview process. I hope others can draw something from it.

I am not sure if USMCFLYR is attacking you or not Cruz.

If he is attacking me or not I don't care. I have a pretty different take on flying than most and I'm also in a much different situation than most folks on this board.

From what I read you are at Eagle let's put it this way. I want to be at Eagle and if I was I certainly wouldn't be leaving there to take a chance on a quick upgrade at Gulfstream. You are a wise man by staying where you are at.

Yet if they didn't have a training contract then you would like to work for them?

First off GLA hasn't given me a yes or a no, but I'm probably not going to take it even if I am offered the position. If GIA didn't have a training contract then yes I would like to work for them more so than GLA and here is why. They pay more per hour on the same A/C and given where I live the commute is easier on myself and family.
The Aerial Survey gig was at a good company. Some personal family issues arose that made this good job not so good for myself for many reasons that I will not get into, but the main one was money.
My current job pays very well for someone of my age and where I'm at in life. Likewise on the side as I'm needed I fly a C90. It's not much, but it's something and it gives me the turbine fix I love plus the resume experience so it's a win win!
I want to fly in the airlines plain and simple, but I am in no rush to go off and be some broke pilot all because it's "cool" to fly a jet. Flying turbine powered equipment is freaking awesome, but at the end of the day it all boils down to a job we do for a paycheck. So I've decided I'm in no rush to turn my hobby/passion into a job and this affords me to wait for something better to come along rather than the first offer I get. All too often I see friends and people on forums do this and within 3-5 years it's the same story. I like my job, but it's turned into just that. So what's the rush?
