1. No PFT. You are asked to sign a 2 year training bond to which $1000.00 is deducted from the contract per month. NO MONEY is taken from your paycheck. So if you stay for 12 months, you would owe 12,000.00 You stay 24 mos, you owe nothing.

2. Pay is 19.00 per hr. plus per diem from day 1. You are also given a single occupancy hotel room during training

3. Hiring for the EAS bases. You are able to bid Florida, but it is senior.

4. Lots' of attrition. Guys leaving for the majors, etc.

5. Interview is a get to know you, WWYD snenarios.

6. 50 question test which cover everything from pvt, inst, comm and atp. Easy stuff, but unless you like to keep up with it, you will forget

7. Sim ride straight forward. Lilly the instructor was super nice. I got a completely different impression from cruz. Sim was a takeoff, intercept, track, to hold, say entry, fly an ils, land. brief approach.

8. Overall impression of the company? Good. They are growing also, with plans to double if not triple in size thanks to the new owners.

I'm not going to tell you what to do but to each his/her own!

Also, for those of you interviewing, it will be held at Sheltair. DO NOT GET A TAXI. USE THE SHELTAIR SHUTTLE- IT'S FREE if your flying in to FLL. Just give em a call and they will pick you up.
Wait. Someone else said GIA isn't really hiring direct entry Captains. What's the truth? Can one be hired direct left seat? Or not? Do you have to be FO for some time beforehand?

Cruz, Archer, looking forward to seeing you both there too! Sorry bout that that Cruz, must have gotten the wrong impression from what you wrote. As far as direct entry Captains, I don't know about that or how they hire for that. I am going in as a SIC. When the time comes for upgrade, I plan on being ready for it. Cruz, great advice for everyone. Also from USMC. Training contracts are part and parcel and is to ensure that the operator doesn't spend this money on you then you bail. Whether you decide to come to GIA or not, investigate matters for yourself then make the decision ON FACTS-
not rumor or gossip. Had I not gone down for that interview, I am sure I would have regretted it. To each his/her own - all the best in whatever you choose to do.

Wow, is this really how they are going to do it now? Was this heard from a reliable source? I know the pay is one of the lowest out their right down there with GLA's but for them to take even more out of your non-existent paycheck is almost inhumane.

Who cares which crappy regional a guy goes to? You guys are playing "My crappy regional is better than your crappy regional". I know a guy who did PFT and took a $10/hr job at the worst regional in the country at the time. Now he is a senior captain at a major with another 20 years to retirement!

Today's worst regional may be tomorrow's best regional to work at. Pay changes, code shares change. Get off your high horse and let people get on with their career. It's all about timing and seniority. Regional pay is ALL the same: low.

Well I guess I'll be missing my daughters first x-mas. Happens to people that deployed all the time though.
