Well OJ all sounds great...BUT, I bet your book says that teaching the FO stuff is part of your job, and molding them into a Captain is part of your job too! Also, nothing is better than a nice landing!
Mentoring First Officers is something that Captains should do, nothing I said in my previous post says otherwise.

You sound like a passenger when you say that nothing beats a nice landing.

Allow me to mentor you, sometimes a safe landing is not a nice landing. Now, go run and tell your friends.

Where are new-hires going? I applied about 2 weeks ago, got a call about 30 minutes later but never returned it.

Pax will complain that I landed on one main first when there is a 30 knot crosswind. I do exactly the right thing, but the uneducated still b$tch.

My job as a captain is teaching the subtleties of a new aircraft and oddities of local ATC. I am not here to teach basic airmanship.

I respect your experience, seriously. What about a Captain that stalls an airplane into the ground, is he or she considered equal in flying ability?

Assuming your referring to one particular Captain. Do you know where they had their first airline experience?

Can we please not turn this into a fighting match? There is bad apples that come and go at every airline known to man. Comparing paychecks from mine to yours is like saying my dad can beat up your dad; good for those guys making more than me/us. I also don't happen to use flying as my sole source of income so if we really wanna play that game..... Let's just keep this on track.

Go ahead and return the call, the individual on the otherside of the phone may be able to answer your questions.

That captain flew at Gulfstream before Colgan.

Gulfstream is perfect for people that want to play "airline pilot" as a hobby. It sounds like it's a good fit for you. You will be in class with pilots like archer that no one else wants. Gulfstream has staffed like this for years.
