Because by then the captains should have moved on to a major and the FOs should have upgraded to Captain.

I don't know why I bother but here goes........

The biggest problem with keeping 9E around after cutting all the turboprop and 200 flying was the fact that everyone left were some of the most expensive pilots in the regional industry.

I wondered about this a few months ago. Why save Pinnacle if you have such a high labor rate? It didn't make any sense.

Then the big stick came, sign the lovely TA or go out of business.
Capping the rates at 4 and 12 years solves the problem partially. The rest need to go via being hired somewhere else.

Maybe they plan on using this "interview" process to move some senior people out that wouldn't leave prior.

Couple that with a few more than 81 900's and you can imagine the kind of low labor rate the new 9E has in a very short period of time.

But what do I know? I was certain that DOH was the best way to go on the ISL also.

You and I both but our 9E guys had their heads so far up the senior guys tails that they couldn't see any picture. Funny thing is they failed on every front in regards to the 9E pilot group, the senior guys lost huge seniority and the rest lost any upgrade chance ever. Way to go big John.

I think you're overestmating by a large margin how many of the super senior types are actually hireable.

There's areason they wouldn't leave, and Delta is probably better off without them. I'd imagine Delta HR is looking for pilots who actually have a desire to be there, not those who are forced to.

Opinions are like...... They all stink. This thread makes me laugh. Lots of people dying for Pinnacle to fail.

Pinnacle is now the new Comair! Delta + ALPA = Your screwed! Look at our history! Think Pinnacle already has some reserved parking next to our old fleet in Kingman, AZ! Your 900's will go to the newest w h o r e s in town known as GoJets! And the regional cycle continues!

I don't think anyone is in denial due to we don't have a.clue what Delta is going to do. Just because they shutdown Comair the way they did doesnt mean that will happen here too. I thought the same thing due to past track record but think something else is brewing. You may be right but I'm not loosing any sleep over it. life is too short.

I don't believe the majority of the "super senior types" want to be hired. They have their homes, base of choice, bid seniority, kids schools, wives jobs, local golf club membership, etc. etc. Why give it up for Major FO pay, lousy schedule, possible move, new schools for the kids, wife unemployed, etc.

They may take a pay cut staying where they are but that's better then the alternative. Single or married with no kids under age 45 - probably willing to move to the majors. Married, two kids in college, over 45, fifteen years equity in house, fishing boat docked on the great lakes - going to stay right where he is. Just got to tighten the belt.

How many are there ? Only HR could give us a break down.

Correction, HAD, MEM closes in April, and with the pay scale capped at 12 years, that's a big cut from the past.

I don't understand how some people can justify staying at a regional considering what has happened to that sector of the industry the past few years (and what's to come). I would think sucking it up at first year pay at a CAREER AIRLINE is easier than being unemployed and having to go to ANOTHER regional to stay current while you try to get hired at a MAJOR.

Dont say "it can't happen", look at COMAIR

PS Im not trying to cast stones just offering my humble opinion
