SAPA 'Negotiations' Update
#11
Dont' forget the loss of 100 airframes that will be parked due to SCOPE on SKW and the 150 at EXJ. I have been screaming this here for a while but everyone is drinking the cool aid. SKW will shrink, they currently do to much feed for United and Delta. No way they will be allowed to control the marker. SKW folks this saddens me to say, but welcome to being like the other regionals, soon you will be upset by your concessions and smaller paychecks and the operation will likely slow down, you guys won't be as helpful and you will join us. But like Slats says, your management is very smart!

Sounds like the high and mighty Skywest types are about to learn about reality is. Hopefully they don't get too deep of cuts but sounds like pays about to take a cut and airplanes get bigger...... At the end of the day do the pilots have a leg to stand on at SKW? No union no contract means management can do whatever no?
Best of luck but I just don't see it. The 50 seat comment on this goes against what your pilots say on here that the E175 are growth. Sounds to be replacement in the long term.

"Management contends that our pilot compensation is one of the biggest challenges to winning new contracts and believes that Mesa and Pinnacle contracts are the new standard."
And 9E union thought that a BK concessionary contract wouldn't affect the rest of the regionals outside bankruptcy. Oops.

Oh right, because non union airlines like VX and Skywest have a history of forced paycuts. Sorry, but that medal belongs to union ALPA carrier. And if 9E was non-union, it wouldn't have cone down to that. Those Colgan guys sitting at home would sit at home with zero pay. And I'd furlough them.

Is not cheering, mane of the folks at SKW believe that they are above the regional issues and will soon be getting smacked by the company just like the rest of us. It's the cool aid!

No, SkyWest has never changed anything in this document without either a SAPA or entire pilot group vote. They have interpreted policies within this document differently than was intended, but name one airline that hasn't done this. There is a process for grievances and the like contained within our "contract". Also, the PPM is a legally enforceable document between the company and SAPA under the Railway Labor Act. And no, we are not "at-will employees". Once we are off the probationary period we are entitled to a disciplinary and representation system that is very similar to other union carriers. Once again, stop spouting off fancy words and get your facts straight. You don't work here and obviously have no clue how things really work.

I know for a fact that SAPA is not recognized by the NMB as a bargaining agent for the Skywest pilots. So how would the you fall under the RLA?
But I see that you agree that it's like any other company that reinterprets work rules. As for being at-will, unless your grievance process includes binding arbitration for termination hearings, then I don't really see the difference.
Also, assuming you are correct about it being legally binding, how do you enforce that? Who pays for the lawsuit, in other words?
