Best of luck but I just don't see it. The 50 seat comment on this goes against what your pilots say on here that the E175 are growth. Sounds to be replacement in the long term.

Nothing like seeing a pilot rooting for management to cut fellow pilots pay! Way to show support for our profession... no wonder the downward spiral continues!

You're basing this "knowledge" on the hundreds of SKW pilots you know personally, or the handful on this message board?

That's BS. They want Skywest to do bad because these union ALPA regionals finally see that they have been played all along, and wasting 1.9% salary while ALPA protects mainline at expense of regionals. Look at Deltas new PWA contract, it clearly spelled the end of a lot of regional ALPA jobs. Skywest is nonunion, with the highest paid regional pilots in the country, and with smart management. Others are jealous + misery loves company.

Your point was that ALPA is the reason for their concessions. My only counter point is that if they were non-union, they would be worse off. Keep in mind the fact that the judge denied management's first attempt at abrogating the pinnacle pilots' contract. That is proof that they would have been worse off if they were non-union because they wouldn't even need the permission of a judge.
The judge was having a bad day. And all he said was basically I can't approve this, why don't you guys talk it out more, and if they come back with the same concession offer, I'll have to approve it.

As for non-union being worse off, yeah SkyWest is doing really bad right?

Nope, I have friends whom fly at SKW and they know they are drinking the cool aid a bit much. When the 30 Ejets were announced some were smart enough to understand the company was telling them we will shrink and will have to give concessions while at it. Same thing at Pinnacle and Eagle. I don't want to see SKW pilots fail because I don't wish anyone harm and because it will affect me as well.

Yes because my hopefully it won't be bad is me rooting for such. I think a lot of SKW pilots are overly arrogant and their "we're better then the rest attitudes" annoying. However that doesn't mean i'm hoping they get pay cuts etc. I'm simply saying at this point I'm glad I have a contract and association as opposed to a none because your management team already showed their hand. They don't care Mesa and Pinnacle were bankrupt they claim it as a normal. That management mindset sounds dangerous and like a shift toward more greedy types that many claim is "different" at Skywest

Wasn't it Skywest who had an ugly change in their insurance a few years back? High deductible plan forced on them or something? If there's a binding agreement how did this change occur?

And don't forget the Stock Purchase plan, and perpetual massaging of the performance rewards numbers.

Highest paid regional pilots? Not really.

Really? The judge was having a bad day? You are missing the point ENTIRELY! That is, that if they were non-union, it wouldn't matter if the judge was having a bad decade. Management would've imposed whatever they wanted (that the judge denied or worse). That was my only point and had nothing to do with Skywest.

Nevets the whole fact that you (who work at a different carrier) post on here a message from SAPA to SkyWest pilots all in an attempt to stir the pot of ridicule signals to me that you are a major troll.

SkyWest pilots wont get concessions.

I expect management to ask for cuts just as much as I expect pilots to ask for raises. The only negotiating ploy they are throwing out there is whether we "grow" is up to the pilot group, because Mesa/Pinnacle are competing with us and have some low-ball offers. We don't really see it as "up to us" to secure new flying, but thats beside the point. We all see this as a tactic of starting the bidding low, as an attempt to avoid giving pay increases. If management gets cuts, they will be ecstatic, but I really think their expectations are to keep compensation where its at. Because management knows we dont require cuts. It would help make us more competitive, sure, but they know they dont have a strong case. We are profitable, have been profitable, the company just ordered 11 billion on new jets, has loads of cash in the bank, in the last year secured several new RFPs, etc. Its also possible that we delay negotiations until next year after the rest rules begin, so we can better see how this will affect everything.
But for now having new aircraft = growth in the coming years is the sole carrot their dangling. On our company discussion board EVERYONE could careless about growth if it means we have to sacrifice personally for it. This isn't 2008, movement is coming to the entire industry. Will there be a shortage? Debatable, but there will be movement almost everywhere.
