SAPA 'Negotiations' Update
#31
Nevets the whole fact that you (who work at a different carrier) post on here a message from SAPA to SkyWest pilots all in an attempt to stir the pot of ridicule signals to me that you are a major troll.
SkyWest pilots wont get concessions.
I expect management to ask for cuts just as much as I expect pilots to ask for raises. The only negotiating ploy they are throwing out there is whether we "grow" is up to the pilot group, because Mesa/Pinnacle are competing with us and have some low-ball offers. We don't really see it as "up to us" to secure new flying, but thats beside the point. We all see this as a tactic of starting the bidding low, as an attempt to avoid giving pay increases. If management gets cuts, they will be ecstatic, but I really think their expectations are to keep compensation where its at. Because management knows we dont require cuts. It would help make us more competitive, sure, but they know they dont have a strong case. We are profitable, have been profitable, the company just ordered 11 billion on new jets, has loads of cash in the bank, in the last year secured several new RFPs, etc. Its also possible that we delay negotiations until next year after the rest rules begin, so we can better see how this will affect everything.
But for now having new aircraft = growth in the coming years is the sole carrot their dangling. On our company discussion board EVERYONE could careless about growth if it means we have to sacrifice personally for it. This isn't 2008, movement is coming to the entire industry. Will there be a shortage? Debatable, but there will be movement almost everywhere.

As for trolling, call it what you will. I'm just attempting to enlighten those not employed by Skywest Airlines since you guys are always tight lipped about everything. Notice I made absolutely no commentary on my first post.

Did you need to? Sometimes you can say something without actually saying anything. And when one of this forum's most vocal union advocates tacitly posts something about the 'negotiations' at a non-union company at which he doesn't work, I think that is just such a time. Your intent does not need to be explicitly stated.

Nevets, why do you care what happens at SkyWest?
Or let me put this another way, would you like to see us get a 5% raise or a 5% pay cut. I get the feeling you'd love to see our pay cut.
Frankly, after the BS your union pulled on 70 seat rates, you shouldn't run your pie hole all that much.

Skywest is my third regional. First shut down now second filed bk and I wasn't sticking around for crap pay and crappy contract. Both were alpa carriers. At my time at the alpa carriers one being pinnacle you could get nothing done. Call someone on the phone ten times and no answer. Send five emails and no response. CrewTrac treated us like a bunch of monkeys. Since I have been at Skywest not one of these things has happened. You have a problem with payroll call and they answer and fix the problem. Crew support is friendly and will accommodate drops and swaps even for reserves. Even with pinnacles new contract Skywest can still operate cheaper than pinnacle simply due to efficiency. I voted no on pinnacles contract, and I didn't sit around complaining how bad pinnacle was. I left and came to Skywest to have a better life. It is a shame that other regionals want Skywest to get "theirs" just because they are stuck in a crappy position.

I care just like everyone else cared what pinnacle and eagle got.
And I would love to see you guys get 5% raises. Actually, I would rather you do better and at least get parity with our current total compensation. That would at least not hurt us. As for the arbitrated rates, they were arbitrated. That means that a neutral third party decided it for us. It's at least on par with others total compensation on similar aircraft.

As for being treated like monkeys, that's all on management. Every airline is one new CEO away from being the same.
Fact is that you can't make an honest intellectual correlation you are making.
