According to Mesa | Audries Aircraft Analysis, attrition and growth should maintain a similar upgrade time for the next year or two, after which it might go to roughly three years upgrade time.
That only accounts for upcoming deliveries. Should there be more growth and Mesa can sustain the hiring (they've done a good job of that so far), it's anyone's guess. That's my analysis anyway, but if anyone disagrees I'd love to hear their projections as well (genuinely).

So let me get this straight - due to growth, the upgrade at Mesa has dropped. I get it, the contract at Mesa sucks. So now, a 1.5 year guy (who has a background that your unfamiliar with) is in the wrong for bidding and being awarded an upgrade in accordance with his seniority at a closed shop carrier?
If he can legally be a 121 PIC, has the seniority, passes the check ride, completes IOE and passes a fed ride; what's the problem? Do street hire Captains (which there were a lot of a various carriers in the 2005-2008 timeframe) pass muster with you or is that reckless? This isn't the first time the upgrade has been this short at a 121 regional. It's approximately the same at TSA as well.
It's never enough for you Eagle guys. You insist on cheapening anything positive that happens in this industry to somehow make yourself feel better about your situation (which sucks, but that's how the ball has bounced with Parker and his cronies). Hopefully things turn around for you guys (you get the airplanes that you're due), but in the mean time, try not to **** in everyone's cereal.

Any CFI that says that 250 hours doing it is the same as 2500 hours is a terrible instructor. No flight nor student was ever the same.

As for that, I think it's diminishing returns. I had buddies who were lucky enough to get hired at 250 hours two or three years ago; all were top notch and very safe.
As an instructor I think I plateaued at around 600-800 hours. I saw just about everything an instructor can see by then, and really, it wasn't that much more than at 300 hours. By 1500, I was burnt out and things had probably deteriorated slightly. Although in my last week I got the opportunity to try 27-knot crosswind landings in the Cessna, so there's that.

I'm sorry that someone started a thread about this whole ordeal. It can come across as arrogant to some, but this isn't the first time someone has upgraded in under two years at a regional. And you if think that everyone needs your seal of approval to do so, then you must be a sad, miserable individual.

Mesa is now and always has been a scumbag operation. Anyone dumb enough to pick the sleaziest lowest paying RJ operator out there deserves exactly what they get when things go South. Enjoy your low pay, and don't look to me to pee on you when you are on fire.

So sorry if I sounded arrogant, promise that's not how this was meant, trying to bring positive to a negative place.. I have low post count because I've been creeping this forum for a long time and see how guys talk to each other like they're on a middle school playground.. I just want some positive amongst all the negativity!! I'm an upgrade chaser like most of you trying to get to a major, this is good news for me and others and I wanted to share it!
