Let's face it, there are CFI's out there today who haven't been hired yet at an airline like PSA or TSA who will still be your Captain at mainline in the future.

Hey if that's what you need to say to yourself to cope with the situation I understand. But let's not delude ourselves into thinking there is some kind of silver lining at a company that's gone without a new contract for 8 years. The most likely conclusion is there will be shrinking and downgrades at Republic because they can't get FO's to staff the flying, like what's happening at Endeavor today, all in the midst of the "great hiring boom".

So what? Is that a bad thing? It worked out well for them then. I'm not the type to get jealous. For me personally I wouldn't have felt comfortable upgrading in a year from CFI to 121 airline. I don't think I would have been safe. But if some can handle it all the more power to them. Good for them if that happens. For me personally 3 years is a perfect timeline for upgrade. It's like watching jealous school girls on here that are all worried about what every one else is doing.. My advice is grow a brain and make decisions for yourself don't let anyone steer you in any direction.

BB parked 140/135s to staff the airline, and this brought him some time. You still have less pilots today, then last month. Endeavor will attract new hires with their bonus, what does republic have.

question for anyone who may know.
(assumption being that someone on a Republic thread might know)
1. what was Republic Airlines airline code prior to using the code YX
2. what was the logic or reasons that were put forth for changing the code

Republic IS what you make of it in terms of if you decide to go there, for a base or the airplane or whatever else, know what you're getting into and what you're giving up. Management is criminally awful. You're giving up long term gain in the forms of: 1) the pay is atrocious & contract terrible even in comparison to other regionals, especially considering the larger aircraft, 2) you won't see higher pay for a while because upgrade is pretty lengthy and even though it's coming down due to lack of 2009-2011 hires, there's not a ton of hiring at the bottom of the list for current new hires 3) therefore career advancement is will be stagnated you'll lose out on money long and short term since upgrade times are high and there are a lot of lifers especially in the outstation bases (I'm not judging nor do I blame them because they have good QOL and don't wanna give it up)
The crews are mostly terrific, if you live in base QOL increases big time, the airplane is very advanced, the flying is pretty good on the American side anyway, and on the Shuttle cert some of the United stuff is really good too (I'm talking long legs, easy days)...but overall, I'd advise against going to RAH
