"Sharing" the decision making process is a joke of the first magnitude, there is one decision maker in every airplane. So for every "three stripe" snot nose out there there is a "geezer" carrying the heavy load. You ever wonder why those "army of one" "geezers" won't let you "share in the decision making process"?
Look in the mirror.
Wow. Just wow. I'm assuming a lot of your trips are in open time?

Are you kidding me???? Who do you think you are??? With that post you sound like a German Wings type. Not every captain is a good captain. And every good captain is not a good captain every single day. Crm is there to break the error chain and part of good Crm is to use all your available resources. Yes, that means the FO and flight attendants

That is why you are a regional lifer. Even if you could get on with a major, no way you would be of any value to them, especially once relegated to the gear pulling inexperienced right seat you speak of. Plenty of old captains, especially old ones who aren't going anywhere and don't care anymore about their career or going to a better company, have tried to get me violated. And plenty of captains have asked me for my opinion on a situation before making the final decision. That's why there is a crew of two. The few old school types who think like you are on everyone's no fly list. I'm sure you are as well. You are a joke.

What airline do you work for? I'd like to stay clear of it. You are a disaster waiting to happen. CRM isn't some "make your FO feel needed" BS, it's a very well proven idea that makes aviation way more safe. Good lord.

I'll say it without a "young punk" spin. I understand your point. But you're rationality is in question. I've flown with guys that neglect to deviate around thunderstorms because it was advised by the FO. I was a victim to a captain who nearly run us out of gas on account of his ego. Flown with a guy who wouldn't tell me what heading we were assigned because he hadn't called for the "before takeoff check" which led to me just asking tower to remind me. You had best believe that as an FO, I will be involved in the decision-making process. When you're a facilitator of CRM I will be your best asset. If you're an Army of One, you will be shown the error of your ways.
