This is the part that bothers me. People volunteer their time to help the homeless and other very worthwhile causes because it's the right thing to do. It should be on your heart to do so. Doing it because you want a job at United speaks volumes about ones integrity...or lack thereof.

None? Quarter? Half? 3/4?
Virtually all of them.

I' not asking rhetorically; I hear a lot of disdain for aviation degrees and I don't know why.
An aviation degree is of very little use outside the aviation field. I went the aviation degree route myself and regret it even though I didn't do the Embry Riddle thing and saddle myself with 100k in debt. A degree in enginerring or law is useful in a plethora of other fields for the eventual downturns in the aviation industry.

Hey, you forgot losing a naked flight attendant in the woods....

They may be good enough to fly and RJ at a regional, but not good enough to fly the same RJ at mainline. Those seats are reserved for the traditional mainline candidate..... military pilots and properly educated and experienced civilians, not your typical zero to hero regional "dude".
I have no problem with us being hired by mainline and held to the same standards. In fact, that's the point...there never should have been any difference. But that cat was let out of the bag long ago, and not by most of us that joined the industry in the past 10 years. But we do have the ability to change that.

Yes, this means alot of us would be on the street...for awhile. The demand is still there, and either mainline or the LCCs would eventually grow to pick up the slack. Regional "dudes" are for the most part quite experienced and well-rounded these days...that's why we're filling up mainline new-hire classes.

That could motivate their big customers to step in, either prop it up or take over. Somebody in Chicago right now is saying, "well hell, Delta did it."

Republic isn't going anywhere. United will subsidize whatever BB needs in order to continue operating. Just look at Mesa. And if not United, then American.

Please explain how United subsidizes Mesa. Think republic isn't going anywhere? Put your money where your mouth is and load up on RJET stock.
