someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I was told they are not putting first officers in the training department anymore. It seems to be fairly competitive to get into the department, because of their direct flow to Southwest. With us losing a bunch to the majors rapidly again, maybe it will be easier to get in.
As far as whether that’s a good move, unless you’ve got prior experience part 121 and E-170 specifically, I would argue it’s not a good idea to try to train it if you haven’t done it 🤷♂️

The most recent instructor opening will now include FO’s who will teach new hire AQP in both the EFPT and Sim. Training is going through the audit process now and those FO’s should be through training in the next few weeks. The company is working on modifying the AQP Manuals as we speak.

It was only a couple years ago they stopped allowing FOs to do that due to the quality of some of the instruction. Funny how quickly things can change when they get desperate. There are a ****load of Sim instructors, CKAs, flight instructors, etc. leaving for bigger and better things right now. I don't think the Regionals are prepared for just how quickly the pilot shortage is going to decimate their CA and training ranks.

I did want to point out that as I expected, we really don't have a base that will be difficult to get for new hires. All of our bases have been awarded to someone 6/22/21 or newer.
Reserve times *right now* are functionally non-existent since we're still so short.
This *will* change as we hire more people, but for those hiring on right now at the beginning of this wave, it'll be a short time to holding a line.

commutable base from Dallas
Hey folks! Republic is pretty high on my list and was wondering what are the commute friendly bases from Dallas? My highest preference is DCA as I have folks who live there. Is DCA pretty Jr? How are the bids roughly for jr FOs last and this month for DCA?
Thanks in advance.
