Has anyone from Republic made it to Legacy carrier? I haven’t heard of any and I know a handful of pilots

Met two leaving for delta just in the last couple of weeks. Why is this even a question?

Rumor on street is most Republic Pilots go to LCCs and from what I’ve seen this is very true. So just wanted to confirm what you guys are seeing. I’ve heard that with the new Legacy programs coming out more and more are not getting the call. Apparently Legacies are wanting Pilots in their programs vs street hires.

Also inaccurate in my travels. The reality is the legacies try and get away with hiring as few of their own as they can. A “flow” is just a retention carrot. They’d rather poach from their competitors regionals than harm the companies they have ownership in... sure they want that flow, but no more than they have to.

This sounds very logical no doubt! I hope this is true! I know guys that are overqualified and no calls so was just interested to see what the real world sees and any potential reason for that

You never know if they are qualified at all. Every pilot you meet will tell you their sob story how they get no calls and have 4000 hours - but they never mention that they never got their degree or that they have a big checkride fail in their past... Or maybe they interview very poorly. You just never know.

This. And to add, I would say, network. I know three acquaintances who work at SWA and UA with zero, yes zero PIC time in the 121 world. Worked their rears off, had a good resume, interviewed well and networked.

You have to remember, the legacies have amassed a big stack of qualified applicants over the last 10 years. I suspect this coming year is when you'll see the hiring dynamics really start to change. It's exactly why United has started Aviate, and Delta has made the DGI easier to get through.

The majors know what's coming (now). They've sat for so long, what they're doing now is more of a "brace for impact" than actually creating programs that will satisfy their needs in the coming decade.
