Since one wouldn't make such generalizations without knowing it and seeing it firsthand right? I'm wondering what an alarming rate is for you? What are these poor decisions you refer to? So if you want the regulations for stop this thing from happening, you want more regulations right? So if something happened and they raised the requirement, how is that paying the price? Isnt that what you want? more regulation? I am very confused as to what you are trying to say with all of this....please enlighten me.
No, I want airlines to actually screen applicants.

There's pilots being hired right now who make Resnlow look like a shuttle commander. Some of these types will see the left seat at exactly 1000SIC.

Of course *some* airlines won't do it themselves, so when then next tragedy happens congress will pass some new regulation that doesn't work and just makes it harder for people who actually have the right mindset to get hired.

PS- 1500 hours isn't crap, if you think it is... well... I might have news for you.

Sighs... Drops mike...

39,420,000 minutes isn't enough to live either.

At least 1500 is 1500.

1500 is stupid. It's pretty easy to survive 1500 hours of VFR cross country, pattern work, and steep turns.

yes because that's what everyone with 1500 hours does for that 1500 hours...

Theres always applicants who are below the bar...I just would like some examples since you seem to be in tune with everyones hiring right now. I wont disagree that standards have dropped but that doesn't mean that everyone hired is not a good applicant. SO what regulation do you think will help? 2000 hours? 5000? this is such an old argument...1500 hours does not make a safe fo, as 1000 sic does not make a safe captain...it depends on individuals. Great Lakes.... 1500 tt Captains have been flying those planes for years. Now give me an example of the sub-renslow pilots you seem to interact with at airlines.
