I personally think its better to commute as a CA than live in base as an FO. You have to think of your long term career outlook. Staying at RAH as an FO for 8 years will stagnate your career. In the end, you need to decide what is best for you but remember short term pain for long term gain. If you go to a quick upgrade place like TSA or Mesa, you will likely see much higher career earnings and a better chance of getting picked up by the majors. I know its a difficult decision as I've been there and done that.

Then you're pretty much assured that you will be assigned to the Shuttle America certificate which does not have a PIT base. There you will languish for a minimum of 5-7 years before you can bid for a captain spot at RW. Unfortunately, the PIT base will have closed long before you can ever dream of holding it anyways.
There really are many other places that will treat you better and actually pay you for your effort.

A new NC took over, that's what. The last one, IMHO, was as crooked as a dog's hind leg. I personally know two of the four(the new crew)and can vouch for their character and commitment to a new cba. The old NC gave me the "cut off my nose to spite my face" attitude and I hope I never have to deal with any of those "people" again.
I am loyal to DG and crew and stand by my NC. In a nutshell, that's my 180 turn. No longer jaded since the new team took over.

No ship phones. A few of us use the jet bridge phone or a pay phone. This is only to call mtx or soc(or crewsked if told to do so on the release). A lot of captains use their personal cell phones, which they themselves pay for.

OK so with all the angst over there and BB's basketball court, a double digit margin, a 12 year old contract and all the fun surrounding that, there are pilots who are voluntarily paying RAH's legitimate business expenses out of their own pockets? Wow.

Yes. I'd say the majority are. I actually thought that your question was sarcastic; RAH wouldn't foot the bill for our cell phones. Instead they put the mindset on from indoctrination that it's the pilots responsibility. I'd say 97% use their own devices(which they, the pilot, pay for).

No, the question was genuine.
I did find this in the RAH contract (available under the "resources" tab on the APC Airline Profile page).

22.M.2 Pilots will not be required to pay for the use of any equipment required in scheduled operations...

I filed a grievance ONCE. It was for something that was BLACK AND WHITE in the cba. Heard nothing. Literally 23 months later(yes, almost two years), I get a phone call from some no-name at local telling me that the LOCAL had withdrawn the grievance. End of conversation. It hosed me out of c. $260. The local has no stones to fight for us. The ONLY hope we have is in our NC fighting for new terms.
