Thanks. I'm planning my future and am currently at L-Xjet, trying to decide between making a lateral or holding out for Spirit. I'm currently only at 1900 TT. Through a friend I read Rjet's new contract and -no joke- it's actually better than Xjet's overall. I also saw her FA bid packet and the trips look pretty good; generally way more credit than ours and decent overnights. If I started this summer, let's say June, would that be in time to "get in on the movement"? I'd like to show a full year at Xjet and maybe go to the Aerocrew job fair in early May to talk to Spirit and see if that goes anywhere.

If you were in my situation...?

Curious to know what RSV time is in EWR as well. I'm a october new hire and counted 14 people above until holding a line... let me know what you find out.. I'm still getting settled in with FLICA ha.

From talking to people that have been hired at Spirit lately, it sounds like you'd need 4000-4500 TT to be competitive.

Hard to say. Depends upon when the new United birds start arriving and where they are "based". Suffice it to say, the times will come down.

While the FAs currently fly the same trips as the pilots, the pairing credit can be different for the same trip flown by a pilot, due to us being on a significantly different contract (due to min-day, rigs, etc).

Yes, but you'll be behind a LOT of pilots going into the low-credit time of year. All airlines reduce flying in the post-labor day slump. With a hire date of June 1st, you'd finish training around end of July, fly OE for the month of July (maybe half of the month), and your first full month of regular schedule bidding would likely be September, which is the beginning of the slow season.

In the last 12 months, we have added an average of 31.5 new hires per month. If you delay coming here by 4 months, you're going to be behind 126 pilots on the seniority list. "Seniority is everything" as they say.

If you realistically think you can get hired soon at Spirit, then don't make a lateral. It rarely works out unless you get lucky. If you think it's going to take you a year or more, then I would come over here.

OTOH, in case it matters to you, no flow or pref interview at any airline if you come to Republic.

This may be useless information but the most junior EWR FO line holder is a July hire. This may be useless because it's February and it's reduced schedules, plus a lot of things are different this year (fleet growth). I'd wager it will be down around 3 months through the summer. Maybe less.

Short answer to your question: no. We're apparently fairly well staffed right now from what I can tell/hear. For the last 3-4 months, I've averaged roughly 15 block hours and just a handful of nights away from home per month. If you live in base and can live off min guarantee, you can't beat it. But if commute and looking to make money, you're gonna be SOL.

***Disclaimer: Reserve usage definitely depends on base. I'm at MCI, and there's nothing going on here. I'm sure reserves in LGA/EWR/DCA are getting used more.

Over 7,000 more block hours scheduled for March. So I'd say it's going to get busy.

How long does it usually take to receive a call after interviewing?
