Quote: For something so simple not sure why I didn't think to check earlier. Doh! Anyway, I haven't found a hardship clause or anything but it does say that we can terminate early if we give 60 days notice then pay for the remaining two months plus any damages. That's not so bad. Better than paying the remaining 11 months!
My old lease was a 30 day notice + the 2 months rent if you were there beyond 6 months of your current lease, or 30 days + 3 months rent if it was before 6 months. Sounds pretty close to yours. I broke my lease and moved in with my girlfriend. My reason was that with gas costing so much and reduced hours at work that I could no longer afford the rent. Since I never made a late payment and never caused any problems, they let me out with the 30 day notice and no penalty. This was my second 12 month lease with them though. My best advice would be just to talk to them. Explain your situation and see what they say. If you wind up having to pay, most places will set you up on a payment plan to suit your budget.

Oh well, maybe I can go learn how to play the guitar.

But seriously, does anyone have any good unemployment benefits information? I have never had to deal with this before. While I already have an application in for a 2nd career choice, it will take some time to come to fruition. I need all the help I can get. Is unemployment governed on a state-by-state basis? Does anyone have KY unemployment info?

File for unemployment in your home state, Comair will give them the information needed. I think you can get unemployment for almost if not a year now. Just enjoy it, have fun and hopefully this furlough won't last too long.

Take Care.

For the guys that kept asking about the stupid profit sharing checks, they are being sent out starting today. A whole 4.7%. Better put that money in a savings account and start saving up for your furlough, unless you are like me, who will head straight to the liquor store

4.7% sounds a little too good to be true...don't pilots get screwed out of 1% of that making it 3.7%?

I have no idea. I'm sure there will be a screw you pilot fee, processing fee, handling fee and of course Union fees.

I think we need to non-rev to the Caribbean with a couple empty suitcases and stock up. I got a liter of Absolut for 11 bucks.

lets put the whole profit sharing check in perspective.

My profit sharing check will not even buy me a whole tank of gas.

I don't know if that profit sharing number includes the 1% discount or not, but the percentage was negotiated downward in exchange for something else of value. Pilots were not "screwed out" of that 1%. Our negotiators were smart enough to realize that there's no real way to verify the numbers used by the company to produce the profit sharing, so they were willing to sacrifice the one percent for something more concrete...e.g. an extra thirty cents per hour.

My first post here, though I've been watching this thread progress from euphoria to melancholy over the last year or so. It seems this thread is favored by primarily junior Comair pilots who've not had a lot of experience with how this company operates...though we're all getting a taste of it now.

I've been with Comair for more than six years, but less than eight - to give you an idea where I come from. I've seen this company do the right thing for a year or two after the strike, and I've seen the company do a lot of wrong things over the last four years. I've experienced a lot of the same rollercoaster ride many of you are going through right now. I wish all of you the best.

I joined this board with the intent to ask if any 50 First Officers wanted to take a CVG one-day on Aug 22, but after joining, I realized I can't receive PM's until I make 25 posts...which I really don't have time to do before the 22nd.

If anyone is interested, details are here .

Keep your heads up everyone. While this industry, and company, doesn't appear to have a particularly bright future, the upside is that it's really not very difficult at all for First Officers (at least) to replace their income outside this industry if they have an education.
