Hi all. I finally registered and am posting in here after getting a lot of good advice (copy, no one cares). I just got the invite to interview in Feb. To update I have not been to an MTC, only had 1 rec in my profile, and have exchanged a few email/FB messages with the recruiting team.

Exactly. All transition conflicts will be a thing of the past. And reserve coverage will be much more even, allowing them to go even thinner on reserves. The exact dates for training and vacation will be known by the system allowing it to avoid reserve deficits before that month begins. PBS is more efficient because it works line holders harder, finding more ways to legally jam together their inefficient pairings into your monthly schedule, and it needs less reserve pilots to cover line holder schedule conflicts. Reserve pilots will have to cover the 4% holdback in the OT pot, but otherwise they’ll be used to cover short-notice open trips. Another result will be less aggressive trip bidding for reserves.

Ive heard no TC planes either. Hiring was 400 this year with the TC planes but it had been knocked back to 250 because the deals fell through. This same individual told me Mia and phx were the next bases. This was a couple months before Mia was announced. The company is being to tight lipped about the TC airplanes so I wouldn’t be surprised if they might still be in play. It would make sense if the hiring projections have gone back to 400. Of course as was mentioned if they can get a deal to good to pass up and we keep the 319 another couple years that could do it too. Who knows. Maybe we will find out in some news article...like how we found out about Mia.

While 4% is a decent amount of holdback for a PBS system, by my estimation is considerably less than we have leftover in the OT pot now when trading begins. After OT Live begins for the month and a people cram in a few more trips, I think little is leftover in the OT Pot.

So, less trips in the OT Pot means less aggressive bidding for reserves.

I think the 4% holdback is a small perk for having something to swap with in the OT Pot. But more importantly it allows PBS to have up to 4% of trips leftover when it creates its solution, minimizing the need to unstack and assign leftover trips.

It shouldn’t be up to, it should be 4%. Also sick, training (oe historic holdback), non split drops, non split Tradeboard, and 117 drops all retain the rig. I normally drop (not split) flying immediately when daily opens and plan on continuing to do so in pbs. For max days off. I’m not the only pilot doing this. Not saying your wrong I’m saying I think they’ll be more decent opentime than you think. We’ll see when the Loa is done.

More pilots are dropping than adding when daily opens. It’s why the grid goes from good to bad quickly.

I’ll speculate there’s the same amount or more opentime in daily once pbs goes live than now. Assuming it ends up 4%. Training, transition, and vac drops are currently built into relief lines. This pbs is as close to statues que as possible.That’s the intent. Until we see the Loa language that’s what it is. Speculation.
