Correct. Quite a quandary. You want to leave schedules published to see what the bookings will be but if no cares restriction on prior flying you can cut the schedule as necessary but you really don’t want to negatively impact your customers so you can’t wait. You also have to build your crew schedules and fleet plans. We need a definitive decision from Washington one way or the other - and soon.

It's definitely a sh*t sandwich for all the airlines. I'm not one to normally give management a pass, but overall I think AA is doing the best they can. I certainly don't get the impression that they're intentionally trying to keep us in the dark.

Agree 100% they have been completely honest since it all went down in March. it’s not their fault we are here. Nor is its the employees. They have done all they can to save as many jobs as possible. About to find out if APA did the same for their members. Sure hope so.

Just curious how this is APA’s fault? No other Major has agreed to ALV reductions that I know of. Let’s say APA does agree to an ALV reduction and then CARES 2 passes. Well then you took a concession you didn’t need to take. It’s a crap sandwich to all and placing blame on one side or another is disingenuous in my opinion. I think some credit is due APA for leading the industry with being the leader on negotiating early retirements and leaves.

Jetblue has an ALV reduction LOA.

To some people anything that they think remotely benefits the company is a concession.

Even though ALV reductions require artificially high staffing number to cover the same number of block hours. If anything ALV reduction is a gain for the pilot group. It makes us less efficient.

I’d like to know what the terms of an alv that the company offered. If they’re allowing guys to hang around on a ztl or train while furloughed to keep their benefits, then I’m positive they would have considered alvs.

JetBlue signed a MOU that snaps back the ALV reduction if payroll protection is extended for the airlines. I’m assuming AA would structure it similarly. No need to not sign off on an ALV reduction to save jobs because CARES 2 might be signed.

Yes, it most definitely is whether it be temporary or permanent. A concession is anything that reduces pay, work rules or benefits. In the case of an ALV reduction its a pay cut...... If I used to get 68 hours of pay and now I get 50 hours of pay that's a big pay cut.

You don’t know how an ALV reduction works then. Pilot X gets awarded a line value of 30 hours, still gets paid 70 hours. Adds a trip from open time of 10 hours, gets paid 80 hours.
