Quote: According to the potential future Indoc schedule, it will actually be 45 per week, 46 weeks of the year.

46 weeks * 45 per class = 2070, which is right about the 2000 number that we keep hearing. Allowing for a few classes to fall just short of the 45 number, as tends to happen with people having emergencies, etc...
There is absolutely no way that they have the training capacity to hire 2000 per year. They are already buying sim time elsewhere and they have a worsening shortage of check airmen.

Why / how is it worsening? Just curious

They are quitting faster than they are being replaced. Many feel the cost/benefit isn't there.

Most check airmen got a pay cut last year. They were able to hold 757/767, so they were getting paid Group 3 pay while instructing in G2 aircraft. When the G3 went away, they got dropped back to G2 pay. Combine that with terrible schedules and no real benefits, they are all quitting.

There was a posting for narrow body Check Airman, and no one applied. None.

This could be fixed in a couple months *if* management wants it fixed.

I just hope APA doesn't allow a LOA to fix this. It needs to be part of the new contract. We have leverage in terms of this, and we need to use it.

APA should negotiate some kind of pay override, plus better scheduling for CKA. Better pay incentives plus not having an onerous schedule would probably increase interest.

Yes, but not outside of a new contract. It needs to be part of the new contract. Nothing until then.

Don't give up negotiating capital now on something that the company really needs.

Any one know if they have sent out the 3 Nov class dates yet? Still patiently waiting.
