Quote: Seat locks are released if a new, higher-paying type shows up. Thus, a 767 FO under seat lock could bid, say, 777 FO, while a 747 FO under seat lock could not. Bidding a different type incurs another 3-year seat lock, but it's waived for an upgrade.
Quote: Yes, the company can waive any seat locks, equipments locks, etc at
Thanks for the clarification gents.

Quote: The thread is again drifting from a valuable hiring aid into a version of Flightinfo.com. It's OK to vent and our first amendment rights are alive and well (at least on these forums if not in our nation any more) but that sort of thing belongs in its own thread.
Thank you Talon! The admirable and noticed difference between this thread and most others on APC is its cordial conversation and 700+ pages later and we are still on point thanks to moderators like you and 744 and a few others. Thank you all for keeping this thread on its track!

This time last year there was a "dead zone" for hiring/classes as well, then a few days before Christmas the calls started coming in for the "Christmas present class." Not guaranteeing it will happen again like that this year but the "dead zone" is not new to Atlas. Hang in there, this company is intending on being successful and that comes with growth so movement will come soon enough. Your swimming days will soon be just a distant memory.

Hope you're right! I think I speak for all the poolies when I say I'm getting a little anxious after a few months swimming. Can't imagine the guys who have been swimming since march.

Any opinions how much attrition Atlas will see in 2014 from the Legacies hiring?

Nice analysis, WTFover...but for those that don't know, let's add some perspective...those numbers are from a current pilot population of little over 1,000 pilots.

So every three years you move up 10 percent of the pilot list (100 out of 1000 pilots retiring). And those numbers do not include any pilots who may decide to move on to "greener" (major) pastures or who may go out on long term medical.

There is also a possibility of additional growth (along with the possibility of shrinkage!). But growth at Atlas would be somewhat magnified by the relatively small pilot group and, as has been discussed here, Atlas is aggressively looking for business for another fleet type.

It could be a good career (with a stronger contract next time around). Ask me in 10 years if it was the best choice ...
