Quote: I second this. Granted I'm outside looking in (don't work for any of the IAH based carriers) but out of the 3 regionals it seems like Mesa is the better bet if your #1 priority is having a IAH base. This is coming from a friend's experience of being based in IAH for Skywest.

...just my 2 cents.
Yet every Mesa pilot I talk to has nothing good to say about the company.
Hence why I said "if your number one priority is being IAH based."

In any other metric (outside of quick-ish upgrade) Skywest and ExpressJet beat Mesa to a pulp.
SkyWest thread shouldn't be on the second page.

I agree.

So who's got rumors? Sounds like mx hangar in msp is definitely happening, not until the fall though. Then again I'm the only person here who cares what happens in msp.
MSP will soon be all 7/9 and 175. Skywest is buying endeavor, why else would we get their hanger and expand Cree room into theirs? We are getting 190s for Alaska. And my favorite rumor is.... MSP will be properly staffed and do all its own flying!!!!

MX base does not necessarily mean wonderful things. All you need is a relative handful of crew to fly trips built around getting planes to/from MX (start early, end late).

Like cos for example. Mx base around Denver (which is 200 crews) yet cos gets by with 35-40

I heard the whole point of the COS MX base was because it was cheaper as far as taxes etc. than DEN. COS really just fills the gaps in the system. We mostly do early starts and late ends, but we do have some mid day shows and releases sprinkled into the mix. COS base does LAX, IAH, DEN, SLC, and ORD flying mainly. The difference between COS and MSP, is that if MSP were an MX base its still a hub which means all flights would leave early from outstations, arrive in MSP then go out. At the end of the night MSP flights would go to an outstation. This makes for more normal report and release times in a hub. Since COS isn't a hub it's like an outstation with early departures and late arrivals. COS does see a fair amount of midday traffic. Crews from other bases regularly overnight in COS and fly through COS.

Maybe a MX (outstation) but not at a "Hub"... SLC for example...
Don't forget my personal fav rumor. JetBlue will move the E190 to Skywest including the remaining on order as JetBlue adds more A321s and A330.
