I’m the last one off the jet, through immigration (especially through immigration), into the hotel van, and to check into the hotel... well you can figure it out. F/As at carriers have different report times. That said, I’m on that van with the F/A’s to ensure the aircraft, tech log to mitigate potential delays.

My crew’s safety and security is paramount to me. That’s a part of leadership, courtesy, consideration, team concept and moreover responsibility.

Who knows, Floobs ....if and when you get your fourth stripe you can look back on your post and say to yourself “Was that me?!?”

Take the van that gets you to the plane by your report time. When getting to an overnight: if you’re not staying at the same hotel as the F/As then leave, if you are, then wait for them and don’t be a jerk and steal the hotel van.

Why is this so hard?

Because with some people "Its all about ME!"

Simple leadership shows that you never ask anyone to do something you wouldn’t do.

If you can honestly say you wouldn’t expect the FAs to wait for you then leave.

I would expect them to wait for me so of course I would wait for them.

Don’t make life complicated.

But but what about the tech log!?!

You “Generation X”, Generation “Y”, the “Millennials” and now we embrace the “ME GENERATION”.

That doesn’t even make sense.

If you can’t get your required duties completed in the time between report and push, then I guess get there earlier. Don’t expect other people to get there earlier than necessary however. I have never met a line pilot who could not get their required duties completed on time outside of possibly day 1 of OE. Reviewing the maintenance log isn’t that time consuming of a process.

Personally, at home base I like to get there early and perform preflight duties in a leisurely fashion. However, I don't expect the F/O or the F/As to get there prior to report time.

At an outstation, I show up a few minutes early to make sure the whole crew is assembled and ready to proceed to the airport at report time.

The Me Generation refers to the boomers. The most selfishly materialistic and socially destructive generation in history. Thanks for finally accepting all the blame.

Birthdates after around 1995 are the iGen or Generation Z.

Millenials end around 1995.
