Quote: I heard that number for the first time yesterday. Is it truth or fiction? Once the 717s are gone where are we with the total fleet count? (both companies)
Shoot, I don't know. It's really hard to keep track. I think there's someplace on SWALife where there's a running tally of current fleet count.

My bet is we are net zero or a little less. I don't think they're going to increase the fleet count

Kelly said in a September 17 "Ask Gary" that he considers the baseline of the combined airlines to be 690 airframes and that he anticipates the fleet to be above that by the end of 2015. How many above that who knows.

I use this site for my logbook when I forget the the last two digits of a tail number. It seems to be updated regularly and it shows we currently have 655 aircraft with 22 on order. Maybe that increase to 49 on order/conversion will put us back closer to the "baseline" 690 aircraft. Not, sure what to make of it.

Also, am I the only one that is looking forward to the lightweight jacket option in the works?

Yep. Just spent $400 on the leather jacket and I am not impressed. It looks nice, but isn't a very functional jacket for the coin and the time I spent waiting for it.
Looking forward to any alternative to that and the "smoking jacket". Maybe something that actually repels rain and that I dont mind wearing on the overnight.

Best advice given to me as a new-hire: Pay the extra $$$$ for the lambskin jacket. The goatskin feels like vinyl by comparison and doesn't age nearly as gracefully.

I'd be happy to just use the blazer and even the Hat (covers the bald spot). Last thing I need is one more uniform piece that the company doesn't help pay for.

True. I haven't been able to bring myself to throw down for a Leather Jacket that doesn't even fit right and I know I'd never want to wear. I'd be a little more inclined to pay for an approved lightweight Jacket that's water resistant of the Patagonia or North Face variety.

Okay, what's this new lightweight jacket supposed to be like? Leather, fleece, ????

Not that I am even close to being the best dressed (just ask my wife about our first date), but come on guys....... You are going to complain about a leather jacket (my advice - get it without the liner)? Most everybody I have seen lately wears bozo shoes and doesn't even know what shoe polish is. The term sloth comes to mind. You can be comfortable, stylish and professional with very little effort.

If you wish to be comfortable at all times times......pick another profession. Your comfort is really not that important.

Now back to the topic.........

Just saying...
