Hired with much less, no TPIC... It's not that crazy. Delta looks at the whole resume and not just hours.

I've had clients hired with less total time. They were sharp people and every single one of them earned the position. Many have been planning for their interview for years. They went to career fairs, networked, and constantly improved themselves professionally and personally.

You don't need TPIC to get hired at Delta. Delta and other airlines are looking at the entire package. They are looking for the "well rounded individuals."

It is not always about who you are as a pilot. It is also about who you are as a person. Good luck to everyone!

I'm not really sure why people give low time pilots a hard time about getting hired. I understand it's frustrating to watch someone younger or less experienced getting hired, but this is not a competition. I'd like to see people be more supportive with each other about getting hired. We're all in this together. When you're getting hired at an airline with 11,000 or 12,000 pilots, the range of experience can and should vary significantly. At the end of the day, the measure of your success is whether you accomplished your own personal goals, not whether someone else did. Everyone works hard in their own right and has gone the extra mile for the job. We should be celebrating their success, not envying it.

Delta is really good to their interns. It seems that if you do a good job during the internship (and network), there's a really good chance of getting hired with relatively low time. All of the interns I've met have been good people.

I think that its a great opportunity. I wish that I had done one. Congrats to the young man (or woman).

I don't think that having 5 or even 10 LOR's is the key to an interview. I believe the most important thing is your app. Make sure it is filled out correctly with absolutely no misspellings. Make sure you went to a quality college and got a quality degree in an appropriate time and most importantly a good GPA. The more boxes you fill in on the app the better your chances. If you have great app then comes a good LOR. Its far more important to have a good LOR than a lot of LOR's. I was told if someone writes you a LOR and they also wrote 5 others for other pilots and they interview the others and don't hire them then they are not as likely to call you. So in other words quantity is not as good as quality.

Delta has hired somewhere around 400 pilots. Most of those guys have flow or SSP and the majority of the rest hired are military. It would appear that of the 400 hired less than 50 of those are OTS with no military or SSP. The gates are just starting to open and it will only be a matter of time but their is some extremely stiff competition at the front of those gates as well.

I think it eventually will say SWA on it. But first another airline has dibs on it, at least that's what the NYC "phantom" secret squirrels tell me. From them to SWA is purely my own deduction though, but the tea leaves are lining up. The main issue right now is (car) parking. The MAT is designed for busy businessmen busy with business, doing day trips or maybe an overnight. The other airline that will eventually move in there needs much more longer term parking. That could be solved without any additional construction however (increased bussing, etc). But it is one of the few remaining concerns from the PA.

We don't do nearly enough charters, especially just out of that one location, to warrant keeping that much gate capacity on our tab. Especially when gate space is so badly needed in general there.

It will go to another airline, most likely in 2015 or possibly 2016 at the latest, and then likely transfer to SWA as further consolidation continues to rationalize the landscape of the industry.

Quick question: When updating my times on airlineapps, do I just go in and change my flight times in the columns or should I also update my resume with times too? I've been updating every 2 weeks and I just want to make sure that I am doing it the right way. Thanks.
