Yeah, that's why I said growth and early outs combined with a few summers of slowed hiring equals rough back of the napkin math...120ish...could be less, could be more...most likely an average of less, but at least all the rumors are positive and trending toward a good future! Guessing the monthly new hire class size 7 years from now seems like an exercise in futility, but the trend seems good

I have heard 1700 new hires for 2017. That's an average of 141 per month which I think is high. Just relaying what I heard.

I'd like to see the PWA change to protect every pilot when hired, or at the very least at the completion of probation. That could get messy though as some JR pilots complete probation sooner than SR pilots, but there are ways around that, like anyone senior to anyone who is off probation also qualifies, etc.

The furlough protection doesn't mean the company can't furlough. It just makes it harder for them to do so without a dire need. There is no reason to segregate the seniority list by drawing lines at contract time. Having separate pilot sub groups that get different contractual job protections is as unfair as having separate pilots who get dramatically superior sick and family leave based on domicile despite the intended uniformity of a CBA in the first place.
It seems every PWA only covers pilots on list at DOS. Never understood that. Guess that is your gift for being on property when a new PWA is signed.

I heard 1200 in 2016. A flight OPS memo showed 900+ thru September so that seems plausible. The interesting thing is that the percentage of pilots that were given CJO has decreased from 2014 (78%) to 2015 (74%) to 2016 (72%). Also, the number of interviews to number of pilots on property was about 68%.

So study hard.

I was at the career expo today at the museum. Hiring numbers this year are to be 1,300 and they've been authorized to hire another 1,100 next year. 20-25 per week starting in January. For what it's worth...

I would like to congratulate our youngest client ever to get hired at Delta. May you enjoy the next 42 years.
