Quote: That's training pay! I'm hearing not a lot of flying for reserves; hence, the per diem is scarce too. After six weeks at JBU, five months at Envoy ( per the B6 request to "get current"), 3 months of not working (turned down two other offers pending an earlier date at B6 that never materialized...see currency issue above), I'm going to have to generate ancillary non-flying income on the side to get through this year. Expecting IOE within next two weeks.
Hopefully the drafts on the overnights are not island resort prices...e.g. $9 each

1-2-3 rule at JB?
You are definitely going to want to avoid FLL overnights at the Bonaventure.

Quote: I agree , they loose great candidates because of the hiring process here . Sure they are trying to weed out guys who will bail right away, but there are those that would stay.... When the hiring grows more than it already is, I think they'll realize they may need to pick up the pace.
I hate to complain about the hiring process here because I slipped through the cracks and was hired. But the phase 2 process at Jetblue should be changed. I've never heard of any airline with a similar process. This is my fourth airline and our hiring process is by far the worst. They do a great job of picking the correct candidates it's just the process itself. Putting guys into phase 2 for months and then telling them they're not current enough so please reapply, or better yet go fly for a regional for a little bit! Come on, that's ridiculous. The pilot hiring committee needs to meet at least twice a month and then make the decision whether to hire or not. Not this process of the interviewers passing a candidate to phase 2 for months on end only for the PHC to decide they don't want to hire that candidate. Many falsely believe that getting to phase 2 is the final decision unless you hid something in your background. That's simply not true. While it is the case MOST of the the time it's not always.

I've complained about this to many recruiters that I've flown with. While I know they have increased the communication to candidates during phase 2 it has not fixed the main problem.

Quote: Sorry. .. No 123s. I'm aware of any more.

But in the DR you can Getty a half gallon of presidante for about $3. $5 with the dirty gringo discount.
We had 123 in tampa. But I think we relocated for renovation.

Jacksonville had some 1-2-3 specials as well a few months back. I remember rochester and burlington being fairly heavily discounted as well although more like 3-4-5 or something close.

Not a complainer by nature at all. The whole thing was tongue in cheek to counter the statements about lucrative pay. I'm a glass half full kind of guy. But I do write editorials for money - so technically I get paid to complain! And I do drink $80 bottles of wine as the norm; I just have an issue with $9 PBR drafts on the road

And I NEVER complain when the CA is buying...If I'm buying I whine like an Airbus PTU.

I was the "go fly for a regional for 200 hrs." guy. I've laid out the story here in the thread previously. 9200TT, 1400 TPIC , 3 types when interviewed, prior 121 CA, 135, 91K, corporate, freight, no failures, incidents, violations, FSI instructor, etc. FEB interview, advised in May while in phase II that recency was needed; class date November 12.

In reality the 200 hours was actually a combination of 75 hrs of GA flying over a twelve month period and about 125 accrued during five months of new hire reserve at Envoy (well 25 hrs of IOE helped meet the quota). It was explained to me that lack of recency was contributing to failures in JB training.

Happy to report that throughout the JB training process I've had no repeats, unsats, or failures. Was type rated in the A320 yesterday. Did the Envoy "experience" help? In my opinion, it did not. However, at this point it's water under the bridge. I've got a shiny new type, a blue blazer, and oddly enough, uniform pants that are better tailored for an all male vegas review, rather than an airline pilot. Seriously, what's up with the cut on the pants!

Congrats on finishing up STDDeviation! Hope it all works out favorably; though I'm sure it will.
