Quote: I read there are only four sim sessions before the type rating. How is that possible? Are the sim sessions 8 hours long? Is the newhire checkride taken in the left seat? Does that mean you’re expected to do everything yourself single pilot?

-Thinking about coming over
I agree. Funny and absurd, if you think about it (once you've passed)!

Quote: Think again. Yes single pilot is what you are. The guy in the right seat will run the ECAM and that's about as much help as you get. You are required to be able to learn both flows, Captain and First Officer. This is so Spirit can cut training costs. You guys have been WARNED! Buyer beware of Spirit! *** The lurer of flying an Airbus shouldn't be a deciding factor. The guys getting hired now are going to sit right seat for a long time.
The main allure of this place for me is the ability to drop trips and have some QOL. The regional where I am currently has ZERO ability, because the reserves have been in the negatives for all but maybe three months of the 3 1/2 years that I've been there. Going to another regional likely wouldn't make sense, since the reserves probably wouldn't be all that much better than the one where I currently am. I have plenty of time in the 900, so would it be unrealistic to think I could get through training here without washing out?

Nothing against the person who posted this but if you notice he or she is comparing going to spirit against going to another regional. That says it all. Pathetic....(not the poster, the situation at spirit)

Time in the 900 is not the issue. Flying a 900 isn't going to help you learn the Airbus. 121 experience helps to the point it allows you to understand what CRM is.

As far as you washing out, thats for you to decide; How much experience do you have, how do you handle fast paced self guided training, do you think you can learn a new airplane in 4 sims and pass a check ride from the left seat, and then hop in the right seat for IOE immediately after and learn proficiency in that before being signed off to the line.

These are questions for you to ask and answer. Fact is at this point, almost 1 in 10 are busting right out of training and a bunch more are pink slipping their type ride and they get to carry that with them forever.

It doesn't matter as much what you flew in the past, or how much 121 time you have. My sim partner was prior military and had zero 121 time. We both passed training because the fast pace wasn't an issue for us. We have many guys who came from Great Lakes with zero jet time and they got through training just fine. There are few exceptions to every case. I think it has to do more of fast pace of the training and getting behind. For example, if you are getting ready for the CSI and still trying to figure out flows you will have problems.

I will have to say that there is no surprises IMO, you know that 90% of the oral is limitations and memory items along with 1 or 2 flows and systems behind it. You last sim will be the stuff you're doing your check ride. They even give you the profile and the order of the approach to which runway.

The deal is you just don't get enough time to learn. If you make a mistake that's ok. It helps to be able to identify the mistake quickly. That's where you get into trouble flying the airbus. Wish I was more positive but it is what it is.

Some of our pilots had airbus experience prior to working here. One of my buddies is one of them. He even said the training was intense.

hi,
I have a quick question, I received a phone call today but I was not given an interview date? is this normal? Did I screw up?

I understand there is a lot of people that are recommending to do not come at spirit now, but I believe it is a good move for me.

What are your times?

Is English your second language because your last sentence is incredibly difficult to understand.

Phone interviews used to be normal, so probably the same thing now. At some point, they will get so desperate they will hire guys via the phone. This airline is a dump

English is my second language. I corrected the post.
