Just 4 years ago every guy in my class at Spirit had over 8,000 TT and 5,000+ TPIC. Most were long time Regional Captains or guys with Heavy International experience (Ex-World, Evergreen and North American).

Now they have reduced the mins and started hiring a much less experienced candidate on average.

It's apparent that these two different types of candidate handle the SAME Spirit Training program with a very different success rate.
I see your point.

Hi,
I was looking for some info. I recently got a "thanks but no thanks" letter from Spirit after applying. I am a former C-17 Instructor Pilot and current ERJ-175 FO at SkyWest. I have all the appropriate hours, etc. No major blemishes on my resume, one hooked mil checkride. Does Spirit not like ex-military guys? Is the checkride a kicker? Or is their something I am missing? I took that personality test they send you, and did my best to answer as truthfully and consistently as possible. I don't like to microwave cats or anything like that. I was pretty disappointed they were not interested. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

yeah I took my time and entered everything correctly. I did a mil to 121 course that helped me create an appropriate resume etc. I've put in a lot of leg work getting prepared to apply to the airlines.

What was your experience in the C-17 prior to being an IP?

They may view you as a flight risk. Although these days that doesn't seem do be as much of a factor because they just need bodies to fight the attrition. Might be a blessing in disguise. If you live out west find an airline that has crew base that you can drive your car to or can move to and hope they give you a call which I'm sure they will.

What is a realistic idea of first year pay? I know the hourly rate but does the standard multiply by 1,000 work here? Some companies and the work rules it doesn't apply. Just trying to get a good understanding financially of what to expect if a move happened.

(Yes I have read through other opinions on here about the current state of the pilot group/company, )
