Quote: DTW717 is a long shot. I think its will closure will be announced in the next 3-4months, if there is not a new vacancy opening positions beyond the current 35 or so crews.
Dehav,

Reference the 2014 July Crew Resources letter on DLnet. It specifically addresses the DTW717 base and staffing.

Quote: You do realize we don't even have half of all the 717s we are getting. I wouldn't expect DTW to plus up until more planes come online and ATL is finished growing.
Correct. Crew numbers for 717 category will equate to ~575 crews. (Crew resources [July '14] letter states approx. 7 crews x 88 a/c.) ATL will see 30-45% of that number, DTW and 'base TBD' to split the remaining crew compliment. ATL's July list already has 220 crews, so I suspect they'll start staffing the DTW717 base soon.

** Data referenced from July '14 Crew Resources letter. None of the above is my opinion, other than speculation of "staffing the DTW717 base soon."

Dude.

The company has repeatedly said they are buffing ATL right now and will soon start growing DTW. No one disputes this and that base is not in danger one bit. In fact there is a 100% chance it will grow. A lot. A whole lot.

I think Dehav might be a Colorado or Washington State resident taking part in 4:20 activities?

I've heard both extremes....closing of DTW 717 to open NYC instead (even though one newsletter explained why the company prefers staffing NYC flying through other bases) & then the next week heard 160 DTW 717 crews starting 2015. Gotta love the rumor mill. Time will tell!

With the 7/7 class being offered all ATL as there base, does this mean that all future classes will also only be ATL, i.e. there aren't any vacancies in NYC/DTW/MSP, etc at this point?

Probably means nothing. The next class will probably have lots of NYC as people bid out of it

Hey Ghilis,

Do people have the ability to bid out every month, or only when there is a new AE? For instance, I'm assuming NYC MD-88 is remaining a similar size but there have been a lot of people put into that seat. Is that simply b/c people are bidding off monthly, or only when there is an AE? Confused yet? I am. Fingers crossed for NYC or at the very least, an airframe that will get me there!

when there is a new AE. For example, there were people that were in the 6/16 class that got NYC that really wanted ATL. Had the AE come out before the new hire vacancies were offered to our 7/7 class, they would have bid those slots and there would have instead been some NYC slots in my class. So it came down to timing. Next AE is in July, which can potentially work out well for people in my class getting NYC before we finish training. The DTW slots seem to still be just a bit out of reach for new hires, and anything west of that, well, you know how that goes haha.

You can only bid out of a base when an AE is put out. Lately AEs have been coming out roughly every 30 to 60 days.
