Quote: Maybe I’m just paranoid after watching all the videos for years and answering the questions. I just think it’s a thin line to walk. Discussing hiring with a buddy over lunch is different that agreeing to meet with a Stranger to discuss hiring in exchange for lunch.
Stranger danger! Aviation is such a small community, probably would end up making a new hunting or fishing friend and might even have friends in common.

HR reps show up to events with paid admission all the time.

I agree, I’m just saying minus the offer to pay for lunch, it’s not a bad idea. I would do it too.

Thanks Star, much appreciated.

Quote: The guy just wants to talk to a FedEx pilot and offered to pay for lunch in the process for his time, who cares.

If I still lived up there I would take him up on the offer, but I would probably pay for the grub since I probably get paid more.
Thanks very much - very much appreciate the sentiment.

Sorry folks - definitely not trying to "buy" anything here, guess I just thought that was a common type of courtesy. Dream would be to get on with Purple and eventually get based in ANC where I fly out of now. I'd be happy to retract the offer and NOT buy lunch, if that's more ethical. ;-) Just seems kinda ironic that I've lived here so long and am part of multiple flying communities but don't actually know anyone flying for Purple, and trying to change that. Be great to know some of the locals whether I ever got on or not. Got lots of "Brown" neighbors around trying to lure me their way for a while but think I'm more of a Purple guy than a Brown one. Anyway, no worries, I'll just keep updating my profile and keep my fingers crossed. Happy flying and see y'all out there- maybe even at the Trade Show here in a couple of weeks.

Quote: 2018 is certainly going to be an interesting year for pilot hiring. With many big airlines increasing their needs, 420 jobs at FDX is simply amazing. That means for three years, FDX will have hired 30% of its pilot workforce. Crazy.
I was thinking the same thing and saw kinda the same numbers. On track to hire around 30% of its list, what could a new hire expect fo seniority progression with those numbers for a 30 yr career?

Wonder how comparisons stack as to seniority progression vs delta and aa

Europe Base
Goodevening Gentleman,
Any chance to get a job in FedEx for non Us citizen/non green card holder?
I'd love to fly for FedEx and be based in Cologne/Germany.
I'm next to move to left seat in a major freight company in Europe but t&c are far away to those in FedEx.
Currently operating 75/76, former Navy jets and instructor.
I flew 3 years in the Us (USN and USMC).
Any idea how i could get an Authorization to work for an American company?
Regards

Unless you were a foreign exchange pilot, how did you fly jets for our Navy? You have to be a US Citizen in order to be an Officer, and have to be an Officer in order to be a Military pilot??

You could marry an American citizen. That would be far easier than the other options.

Anyone know if it's worth keeping an app on file w/o a PE after getting hired by a legacy? I have plenty of FedEx references, but unfortunately none with a PE to give (sad face). Thanks!
