Quote: I agree. And LOL to the poster who thinks it's still only 6666.66.
It is $6,666.67 for us new hires. Since we received the $10k training bonus we only get $20k in retention bonus first year.

I did not know that. And therefore I'll call myself ignorant and stand corrected. Thanks

Hahaha it would suit me quite well because I am always a lightning bolt to the mistaken word.

Quote: Please stop the pee-ing (because APC censors ****) contest. 61 is you get out of it what your instructor puts in to it. 141 is you are backed by a certified curriculum. So yes, some 61 are great but they are equivalent to a backwoods hunting lesson vs. quality instruction
I would agree, but only to a small amount. If 141 schools were all that and a bag of chips, and didn't have a plan to take your money, then why has the VA stopped paying for most of these schools for vets?

They were inflating syllabi, and taking government money to make higher profits.

As to the quality of instructors... If flown with a few who were 141 certified, but flew 61 on the side, and some of them were well below what I would consider a strong instructor.

141 done right is far cheaper than 61.

It's these colleges bloating things not 141.

Seven, actually. But who's counting?

Quote: Florida is good...one of six states that doesn't have an income tax. I don't live in that one.

I wasn't referring to colleges, actually, but I'm sure they are guilty as well.

As for cost, when I did my stuff on my own, 61 was far cheaper than 141. May be different today however.

Enough with the 141 61 bickering!!!!!! Haha it doesn't matter if you're well trained or not. You're either a good pilot or not due to you coordination and motor skills. A captain knows if you're good after one leg. An FO knows if you're good when...well I'll let you fill that bit in.

16 memory items instituted by memo. I'm sure that's the best way to do that, versus you know, changing the actual manual..
