You aren't owed anything just because you have a big shiny expensive degree, time at the company, or because you fly a contracted out RJ to a mainline partner. If I see someone in an orange lanyard I just assume they are lazy or have too many black marks on their record to progress elsewhere.
What if lets say the 9E and Delta came to some sort of an agreement last August to the effect of a flow. Obviously the pilot group would be giving something up because a flow or 'progression' as we like to disguise it as now, comes at a cost.
Pilot group takes a QOL hit because flow! and orange lanyards!! Now where would the pilot group be? Up shnits creek without a paddle.
The union continuing to push this progression is ridiculous. Our job security and protecting the contract should be a top priority. Take off your goofy lanyard that didn't and never will do anything.
I was really confused until I figured out you were doing a parody skit for a cliche idiot pilot
The union pushes pay up for its members and what better way than getting you to the place where you make more as an FO than as a EDV captain, best of all, same national union.
And you're right, the flow was never meant as a freebie job. One, EDV was having trouble staff which hurts big daddy's pockets (my pockets), two EDV was already so overpaid how can Delta justify giving you all more money (but maybe they should try just in case wink wink), and someday Delta pilots (maybe not all but certainly more every day) would like ALLLLLLLL the flying to be in house, but sticking you guys as a B scale or illegal staple really doesn't make sense. But EDV pilots would like an easier path than a 50-50 shot at Delta, and some would just like a job just like the industry average benefit most of the rest of the wholly owned have.
After all, dbag pilots have been crying like little dbags we need to all work together whatever the tradeoff, so let's do it
I'm a Delta pilots and I, like you, believe the orange lanyard makes sense and want to give any EDV guy wearing it a wave or thumbs up. I want your airplanes at mainline. I want you at mainline. No one has a crystal ball but certainly we can all agree we are better together. You know... Like a union.
Yeah things are a little crazy right now, but sooner than you think we'll be back to a semblance of normal. It's important we still plan as if the world will keep spinning.
