Quote: They were hired in 1998, before those pilots they are now senior to. Sorry but that's how unions work. Most unions just use date of hire. Just think what would be the case if Brucia had pushed for longevity only instead of just one factor. He's the guy that added it. How come no one hired 2005 and beyond at CAL hasn't asked him what he was thinking when he lobbied so hard pre-merger?
Brucia was part of a committee tasked to prevent another USair fiasco...to the delight of UAL peeps. But longevity was not to have any greater weight than the other items...but in the final award Longevity was weighted heavily including those that held no current seat...thus giving them super longevity since their career expectation was minimal compared to employed CAL junior pilots and they held no seat and position...thus negating two big CAL factors and accentuating the longevity factor to the benefit of UAL pilots.

Quote: Well we didn't get a windfall and we didn't decert ALPA so history has shown this to be false.
Oh...of course...what are we thinking...I mean all CA's awards going to LUAL pilots is not a windfall...of course...how silly to think that...UAL was growing and buying new airplanes and all this newly minted CA's were gonna be CA's without the merger...and unicorns like to ride down rainbows....

do you?

I was on this forum for probably allot longer than you think but I couldn't remember the password so I had to re-create a new profile a few years ago.
Did you happen to notice the "Forgot Password" prompt in the lower right corner of the signin prompt. I think it's blue in color. Or would rather just L$$?

Just for reference, you should be happy that th UAL MEC adopted the new ALPA Merger Procedures. If they had gone straight up for a fight, the CAL MEC would have been decimated and your MC would have been left with his big brain in his hand, wondering what happened.

It's unfortunate that Ben and the Houson LEC continue to promote an unjustified CAL entitlement attitudes. Not to worry, Jeff still loves you.

How heavily was longevity weighted in the final award again? And what was a furloughed pilot given for status and category? Just trying to see what your definition of heavy is.

No. It was weighted 65% Status and Category and 35% longevity. The 65% put MOST of the furloughed pilots in with other furloughed pilots.

And longevity didn't benefit "The UAL Pilots". It benefited pilots who had more longevity on both sides. CAL had hired a full 1/3rd of their seniority list in the 5 years prior to the merger.

Keep arguing the 0% longevity argument all you want. You did and it didn't work when it counted. No one reading this can change it. The hard-over attitude to staple the UAL furloughed pilots (but somehow not the furloughed CAL pilots who didn't bring a job to the merger either) will always be remembered by those pilots. Why don't you tell it to them in person next time you see them?

The SLI is done and in place forever, or until the next merger.

Eddie most of them don't know. They didn't read the Award. Just the talking points that they kept spewing. If one of the merger policy factors was "Spewing talking points" they'd have won the thing hands down. Huge victory.

They won't answer it, I will. All furloughed pilots (both sides) were stapeled on the Status and Category list. That was weighted 2/3rds of the award. Only a 35% adjustment for longevity.

No one had ever pointed out if UALPA got "everything they wanted" why didn't the arbitrators just give us our proposal? We didn't want a 5 year 787 fence or to have our longevity reduced by 1/3 of what we asked for.

They aren't all going to LUAL pilots. Except for the 787 which are going to only LCAL pilots, the upgrades are going to all pilots based on seniority. Many LCAL FOs are senior enough to bid those seats, but they aren't.

If you want to see more LCAL pilots upgrading then call them and ask them why they aren't volunteering to upgrade and be a reserve Guppy Captain in EWR.

Quote: You mean the 1998 hires that sat as junior UAL FO's at the merger and now magically they are Jumbo FO's or senior NB FO's or better at the base of their choosing...them fellas?
Yes, then fellas. The ones that are junior to the 2006 737 and 756 Captains from LCAL

In early April of 2010 UAL and U.S. Air were close to a deal. Upon getting wind of it, Jeff quickly called Glen up on his New Mexico horse ranch and started in with his ugly girl talk to stop it. Why did he do that if things were so rosy at CAL? Aircraft orders don't mean a thing if the ship is sinking. UAL was consistently outperforming CAL by the latter part of the decade as noted by the arbitrators.

This theme promoted by guys like yourself of some paradise being stolen from you is bizarre. Or comical, since it starts to remind me of Al Bundy's four touchdowns in one game high school glory talk.

I'm gonna sit back on the couch now, just like Al.

Maybe we LUAL should just let the LCAL guys whine. They lost and we all know it. If we leave them to work through to reality, it'll give them a little closure on their lose. By the way, the LCAL guys whining and posting are all very junior and not the mainstream.
