Old news? Not to me at least...
Quote:
Mesa Airlines could complete a public offering as one of a number of options to raise liquidity in the future, the
airline’s CEO has said.
Jonathan Ornstein said the carrier is assessing a number of different options. He said: "One of our big goals as we go
forward is to continue to grow and finance the business and provide liquidity to our investors, and we’ve looked at a
number of different transactions to do that."
Ornstein said that the airline’s credentials are strong enough to support a public offering, but noted current difficulties
in the market. He said: "We think we have the numbers to support going public, but the environment has been
difficult."
Mesa Airlines was formerly a public company, having completed its initial public offering (IPO) in 1987, when it
operated 11 aircraft. However, in 2010 the airline entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy and emerged from the process as a
private airline.
The airline was awarded a Deal of the Year award on Monday night at the annual Airfinance Journal Deals of the
Year Awards ceremony. The winning deal was Mesa Airlines’ $245.9 million inaugural enhanced equipment trust
certificate (EETC), which closed last year. The deal prefunded 10 E175 aircraft that the airline had on order.
Quote: Junior Assigned Question?

Trying to look thru contract and find a specific reference,

When You get a call from Crew Tracking saying you have been Junior Assigned..

Do you have to accept the trip?

Any consequences if you don't accept?
Sennant gives good advice but I can tell you from experience you do not have to accept the trip unless you are available and only you determine if you're available. If you tell them no you will get a UJA in your schedule. I don't know why because it really means nothing. I have turned down many JA. Just told them I wasn't available. Also keep in mind crew tracking is like water flowing through rocks. They will take the path of least resistance. An example. When I was on ready reserve I was on my last day. They called me to JA me for an overnight. I told them I wasn't available. The only problem was there was another ready reserve sitting across from me that was on their first of 5 days. So really I wasn't the JA.

Also remember this. If you are on probation the company can screw you around and you have no recourse. The union contract state that a probationary pilot cannot file a grievance nor have a grievance filed in their behalf.
It does say Junior Available in the contract and the union fought hard over the available vs assigned wording. With that said you may get pushback on it and saying your not available because you have plans for a beer pong game later today is not a wise choice. If your not available it needs to be a real strong reason behind why.

Missing your flight home and having to pay for a hotel is good enough reason in my book
Quote: PBS works exceptionally well for those WHO BOTHER TO LEARN HOW TO USE IT. I can tell you from experience the number of new pilots who KNOW how to use the software properly at Mesa is exceptionally low.
I agree 100%. A little knowledge and a little seniority went a long way for me with the NavTech PBS software. Toward the end of my time in DFW I was getting exactly the lines I wanted.

And btw, a big thanks to MagPBS for the time he and the other PBS coaches at Mesa put in helping people with their bids, it was a yooooge MAG ALPA "value add" that I really appreciated. There is no such help from SAPA here (that I'm aware of--and if there is, it's not publicized much), which makes it difficult for new pilots to get proficient with the PBS software. A few guys are trying to rectify that and I'm hoping to help as I gain more familiarity with the system.

That mentality is the problem. You don't have to give the company a reason why you aren't available.

When they transfer you to a Chief Pilot and he asks, you kinda do. Yea. I'm not talking about the average tracker. Sorry, if that wasn't clear.

Well, you keep bending over for them. When I was at that place I said no to 4 JA's and never a mention of being transferred to a CP. In fact I beat them to the punch and emailed CC and told him I wouldn't be accepting it. It didn't go any further.
Have we heard anything about another EETC to fund the remaining 8 ejets?
I'm available, but not fit for duty. Im alone with my child, Im sick, Fatigued, just poped a pseudo ephedrine.

Too many reasons not to go.
