Since the 757s are being phased out, is it possible to be awarded that airframe as a new hire?

That isn't to say I don't understand and agree with your position. I'm simply saying you will be setting yourself up for a fall. They aren't going to want to hear that in an interview and you don't want to get the 757 in class and go to LAS or HNL.

If you aren't willing and able to spend a year or two somewhere else then why come to Allegiant? Bear in mind we are not good for commuter schedules. With that all said JAX wouldn't be too bad for a few of our bases to get to and from until JAX becomes a likely base.
I would admittedly make the sacrifice to fly the 75. That's my dream aircraft... But that being said, it would not be a deal killer for me to end up in another base on a different airframe. I would just hope I ended up with an aircraft assignment that let me live in base.

The class I am in had 4 or 5 go to the 757. They will be based in HNL until that base closes in August I believe. When the base closes, all HNL pilots will be displaced to LAS. The 4 or 5 that went were all volunteers, they badly wanted the 757.

Best guess is either a Jacksonville domicile -or- a Destin domicile for FL, probably another midwest base too. But I would bet on JAX. But there are a lot of people who want it I think. If they only put one airplane there you can see the problem, only 6 FO's would be based there and schedules who knows.

As you point out, if you get one aircraft type and the base you want has the other type, you can see the problem there as well. Although, if you do make it to your preferred base and they change airplane types, you will be protected in base.

In our class of 40, nobody under 35 got the airbus I believe. It was originally 20 airbus, 20 md80, then they offered the 757 and I think only MD80 pilots chose to change to the 757.

Yes its possible, but I think it has the lowest chance.

And another small base with zero chance of lasting more than a few years before they decide to close it down. JAX makes zero sense other than to temporarily relieve aircraft parking in the other Florida bases. Once those bases finish their terminal expansions (PIE, SFB, PGD) then say bye bye JAX.

It's not a vacation destination and we don't serve tons of markets from there.

Don't come here expecting it to last.
