Quote: No offense, but you have no business in a passenger carrying jet at this point. You'll need a lot more fixed wing time than that. About 3000 total fixed wing or thereabouts.
That is a completely ridiculous statement. There have been hundreds if not thousands of pilots in the last few decades that have been hired into "passenger carrying jets" with no problems what so ever. I personally was hired into a "passenger carrying jet" with less than 300hrs total fixed wing time.

It all depends on the individual. I routinely fly with guys with a shiny new Atp and 1500hrs that have no business in "passenger carrying jets".

I'm willing to bet the guy with 3000hrs of rotary time has more air sense and maturity than a 1500hr cfi.

That being said I have no idea what the requirement at Allegiant is.

Thanks for the input. Would you care to explain why I would have "no business in a passenger carrying jet" as a pilot with over 3000 total hours and all appropriate ratings (multi/comm/inst airplane)? But first, open your FAR book and look at the section that covers ATP add-on ratings. I don't see anything about a requirement for 3000 total fixed wing or anywhere near that amount to legally fly a passenger carrying jet.

What are the same odds of SFB out of training? What equipment would one expect in SFB?

very good if not within a couple months, I think most of the current new hire classes are slated for AB

Quote: You've been here a while (I think) and you've probably seen how LAS works. People that pass through LAS on Saturdays think the airline has shut down. There are no flights, yet Fridays and Sundays are the busiest days of the week. With no flights on Saturdays, how do you limit single days off to 2-3? You can't. You have to have language for at least 5 a month. The only way to get around this is to send all the airplanes out of Vegas on Friday night, fly outside turns on Saturday, then fly back to Vegas on Sunday morning. You get to spend a nice 3-day every weekend in North Bumfuq, Idaho but hey, you don't have to do single days off. There's only so many flights to work with, which do you want - single days off or 3 day trips every weekend?
Or you could give some guys Saturday and Sunday off and some Friday and Saturday. It's not impossible it just requires more pilots. You act as if they can't afford it.

Wow we have a TA and the thread blows up with new prospective pilots all of a sudden wanting to know about minimums and base assignments. I guess if this passes, we won't have a hiring problem. Management knew the minimum amount to pay us to fix their problems. That's unfortunate.

Quote: Is it possible for a new hire to hold BLI out of training, or shortly thereafter??
BLI is one of the hardest bases to get, especially for captain's. The reason for that is the decreasing value of the Canadian dollar vs the American dollar ever since the end of the recession. Fewer Canadians are flying to the USA for vacation than in previous years and the BLI base has shrunk significantly. You don't want to be junior at this company in a base that is shrinking. They will TDY you to other bases 10 months out of the year and you will spend the entire month in a hotel and never be home.

Just correcting the math in the most recent email about the TA? They stated that we voted in Teamsters in August 2012 and began negotiations December 2012. At the end of the email they stated we've been negotiating with the company for 4.5 years. I think they meant to say 3.5 years. We haven't even had a union for 4 years yet.

Quote: I'm not sure what you mean by rail on profit sharing. PS is just one part of our contract. But your assertion that PS "would be way worse" is misleading at best.

Profit sharing % is of course just half the equation. Earnings is the other half. PS would have at worse been about 5% less, but our pay would have gone up 8% last year, 14.5% this year, 17.9% in January, 21% a year and a half from now. Over the course of a very short duration contract we would have earned significantly more which would have made the PS cut a moot point by 2018.

All in we walked away from at least $1.1B (approx $100K/pilot) on the hope that we'd get a better deal, So far, one year later, we've received zero, not even a nickle in per diem. Excuse me if I'm not jumping up and down for joy while losing money every pay check.

Enough about TA2015, my advice for the Allegiant pilots is to vote with your eyes wide open and don't rely on any follow on deal coming anytime soon if you decide to vote no. Good lucks guys.
