Quote: Thanks for the input. Would you care to explain why I would have "no business in a passenger carrying jet" as a pilot with over 3000 total hours and all appropriate ratings (multi/comm/inst airplane)? But first, open your FAR book and look at the section that covers ATP add-on ratings. I don't see anything about a requirement for 3000 total fixed wing or anywhere near that amount to legally fly a passenger carrying jet.
Yes sir... Because you have very little fixed wing time. Your helicopter time does not prepare you to fly a passenger jet. I'm sorry you find that offensive. Being qualified for a job and qualified for a rating are two separate issues.

Please don't let me stop you from applying.

I believe they have stopped training pilots for the 757 as they plan to get rid of them.

Quote: Question - Does anyone in the know have an idea whether there is a specific multi or jet time requirement for Allegiant, other than just having an ATP? What if someone had 3000 hours of rotary plus several hundred SEL, and less than 100 hours of multi?
You don't have ME Turbine time, i.e. the 3000 hours or so they are looking for as a minimum. Helo, just like UAV time or V-22, is not a player...no different than having nothing but 172 or Aztec time to meet the absolute minimums. That being said, an impressive hey, how you doin' at a meet and greet could make all the difference.

Not going to happen being parked. They have already ran a displacement bid for all Hawaii crews.

New hires likely can expect AB with a few MD80 class at times.

So for the reality of what AAY will do: my next month will entail 5 single days off. Each and every one allows me the time to get off work and begin my travel home between 11pm and midnight. After arriving home, And after roughly 5 hours sleep in order to wake up and enjoy my family, I will have less than 12 hours before I will be required by FAR to be in bed.

All 5 single day off, and out of the graciousness of AAY, each and every day after my single day off, I get to begin at roughly 5-6am. And as stated correctly here, I'm not new! For those of you who don't have single days that begin at midnight, and begin again at 5am; get ready, because it looks like there is a push to get this voted in. I can't imagine what 6 of these will look like.

I have been hoping there would be a bit more revolt just due to this issue. Basically I hate to say this; but my vote is a resounding NO. With the allowance of AAY to control your daily, weekly, and monthly life in calling a "day off" something that you can utilize less than 12 hours of up to 6 times each and every month......ill hold out for hope that money isn't even a close second here.

By the way, for the unofficial pollsters, I too have done a little of that. My last 4 F/O's have had open and frank discussions regarding this issue. All have told me they have changed their mind to a NO for this reason. Nearly each one told me as an F/O in a mid seniority level, they don't get too many single days off right now. Then I showed them numerous examples of what is to come in their near future as junior captains!

I also let them know that several years ago with line bidding, this wasn't an issue. It doesn't have to be an issue for the next 10 years if we vote this down, and fix it!

FWIW, JetBlue is the only company that really gives any credit for rotary wing time.

The 757 fleet manager is pushing for more crews due to the fact the 757 is severely understaffed. Tons of mission modes including a recent AUS trip paying 12 hours (usual block less than 6) for both seats. That being said, upper management keeps saying no. We will see but never say never at Allegiant.

First, grow up. The FARs where created to limit the the company from scheduling us to fly with lest than 10 hours off, not to give you a curfew. Second, the current "work rules" do nothing to limit the amount of single days off the company can give you so it's not like we're giving anything up.

As far as scheduling you must not know how to bid because it's not that hard to hold exclusively mornings or afternoons. I've been here less than a year and can hold either or a mix. It's how you bid. I'm hoping with any change in pbs and greater teamster oversight our schedules will improve.

I'm neither yes or no at this point and neither should you be. The final language hasn't been posted and you're one of the loudest NO peeps in the crowd.

As far as the unofficial pollsters are concerned, they were probably just tired of listening to you complain that to appease you, agreed. For anyone to know exactly how they're voting right now speaks volumes.

I don't think a lot of the guys here understand that you will not get a change from the single days off language we are getting in this TA. The union negotiators are saying loud and clear this is the best we are going to get in the labor environment we currently have. Single days off alone is simply not enough of a reason to turn this down. When I came to Allegiant I came knowing I would have to live in a base. If they close it I'll move to another one in the same state. Those of you that commute and can't handle it anymore should either be patient while you move up in seniority or LEAVE. Every legacy is hiring just go to one of them. I would have voted no if we didn't get the scope that we got, that's big, the single day off issue is not a reason to vote down a solid contract and delay this 1 plus years as a minimum! And then we will still not get what we want, and we will not get released. The company may simply dig there heels in and just take the millions in cheap labor we are giving them. They can hold out for a long time since the NMB is on their side. Use common sense man, stop being selfish only worried about your single days off issue.

So some people want to hold the rest of us hostage because they choose to commute at a non-commutable airline? I mean all of us, at one time or another , could find ourselves in this position temporarily. But in the long run I don't think any amount of re-negotiating or "sending a message" is going to change Allegiant to a commuter-friendly airline.
