If Atlas takes a while to get a contact and/or they have a sub-standard contract, it will only matter in the short-term. Because of the pilot shortage, in the long-term, if the above occurs, then Atlas will either shrink greatly, or go Chapter 7.

The Pilot Shortage is just gathering steam, like when u go to the beach and notice the ocean receding severely, so you run to the edge of the water, and then see what looks like a high wave in the distance. The Pilot Shortage will force all carriers to offer Industry Standard contracts, or be irrelevant.

Now that atlas will not have single SOC with Southern till 2019, its a good guarentee that there will be no new contract for 2 more years.. The judicial system has helped the Atlas company that way by favoring them.. All this shows that Atlas management can take their time with what ever they want and nobody will question anything..

What is industry standard? or should I say who has the industry standard contract?

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WOTH ATLAS.

>> Your Negotiating Committee has just concluded the final session of 2017. ...The company is not only insistent on us giving in to a concessionary position based on the standards of the current Atlas Air contract but some of their proposed provisions have actually been concessionary when compared to the worst provisions of the current Southern Air contract.<<

Management literally just got done trying to convince a judge, their customers, the media & the shareholders that they were actively participating in fair & equitable contract negotiations to ensure future success via a well staffed operation & that this is a destination airline for pilots.

Now this.

The advice I just gave to a friend of mine enquiring about applying, is the same that I would give to to all my fellow professional pilots: Why would you reward such bad behavior? And this is truly bad behavior.

These guys paid themselves more than some of the legacy airlines recently & yet pay the line pilots 60% less. Now they want the pilots to give up even more? In a booming cargo market & ever increasing pilot shortage? Please note: Our brothers & sisters at Southern have been toiling away under a truly ridiculous CBA forced upon them by a bankruptcy court - THAT is already a concessionary contract. Now they are coming for another pound of flesh? Let that sink in.

Do yourself, your family & the piloting profession all a favor and spend your limited time, energy & resources seeking out an employer that truly respects & values your dedication, hard work and skills (in deeds and not simply lip service). Your skills are in demand - the market reflects this and almost all other companies are reacting to this reality in a positive way. Sadly, some are not only intent on being stuck firmly in the mud but actively striving to drag our profession back into the dark ages.

They are only doing this because they believe pilots are easily manipulated and keep showing up at their doorstep. When that is no longer the case their behavior will change as well.

You do get a vote in this.

I would say UAL/DAL/AA/FedEx/UPS/SWA, and maybe Alaska. Something comparable to an average of the above contracts would be industry standard. I think, in the future, if any of the above airlines has a contract that is definitely sub-standard to the average, they will have a very difficult time staffing.

The average US regional pilot is being competed for by the above carriers, plus JetBlue, Atlas, Kalitta, Sun Country, Allegiant, Frontier, Omni, China, Middle East carriers, Japan, Hong Kong, corporate, etc., etc. It is turning into one giant hiring basket, with all aviation organizations competing for the same pilots.

When Amazon starts to feel the pinch from more delayed or under-crewed aircraft, only then will you guys get your increases.

You deserve so much better! Flying a 747-8 or 767F will be valuable experience ELSEWHERE regardless.

Quote: Aside from all the lawsuit stuff, one thing I'm trying to wrap my head around is first year pay.

Aside from it being low, you can be taxed on the amount that a ticket would cost you to get to base?!?
So... you ALSO pay to go to work!!
Absolutely, $500+ per mo.

Read up it's all over this forum.

Will Atlas be hiring in January? How long after phone screen and test is interview scheduled? Where is training?
Thanks

Except for Christmas Peak season when the training department gets sent out on the line and when they parked the Classics and transitioned crews, Atlas has been hiring non-stop since 2010 so I'd say it's a safe bit they will be hiring in January. I've heard the online test has been dropped, no idea about the timeline from phone screen to interview. Training is on 36th street in MIA.
