I've been noticing that some regional carriers are pushing back training dates whether its due to sims, influx of applicants etc.

I've been a long time lurker of almost every regional forum as I get closer to mins (3-4 months).

I overheard someone say that Envoy is starting to be more selective and has been turning away applicants. Is envoy starting to get extremely heavy on the FO side as well just like some of the other carriers?

I know that the regional industry is tremendously better than what it use to be looking back. It's a good thing that there are so many choices. Trouble I am having is people continuously say seniority is everything. If some regional carriers aren't having class dates till mid 2019 is it best to wait or go to a carrier who doesn't have a backlog?

Envoy is a unique case here. It is grossly overstaffed on FO's generally; however, they have carefully cultivated appropriate staffing levels on the FO side on the 175.

The three fleets here are radically different because Envoy does not allow FO's to bid to different equipment. Some of us feel the pain, some benefit from proportionate staffing on their fleet in an ensuing regional pilot glut, affecting much of the industry.

I'd decide now if you want to come here and do your last 3-4 mos/300 hrs as a cadet instructor if you do. Cadets get first pick on equipment and are rarely forced into the overstaffed fleets.

Quote: It should come out after Dec 10th. If you don't want the unpaid move days, send the RF 100 MOVE by then.
Just to piggy back on this - so move days will be awarded before the January bid even opens?

I tried to send my request to waive the unpaid move days last week and they sent a reply back saying resubmit on the 10th because it was too early. So I believe they will come out the 10th or 11th with the move schedule alterations.

Could someone help explain the probationary check ride process, please? Got an HI6 telling me to sign up for training in January via RF 100 GND and check my HI10 for training dates.

HI10 shows Hire Month/Recurrent Month. RF 100 GND wants me to pick training, but in January per the HI6.

And what the heck is a probationary checkride??

Clueless. TIA.

It’s your recurrent training that they try to get out of the way before your first anniversary. If you open up your manuals, you can actually learn what you are supposed to study once you find out if you’re R12 or R24. You’ll do a MV, a QLOE again, as well as the RAD. Good luck, it’s not all that bad.

I'll have to take a look at the program. I always thought, and this may be the case, that you had to be an instructor at a 141 school to which I am not. I appreciate the input.

Thank you. How does one find out if they are R12 or R24?

What is RAD? Doesn't ring a bell?

Everyone is doing R12 next calendar year. In fact, our manuals only have R12 in them right now and it's a new program so R12 is different from what people remember from the past.

RAD, can't remember what it stands for but it's the 'fun' part. Unusual attitudes, stall recovery, terrain, windshear, etc.

There was a message out not long ago about all recurrents to be R12 next year, but not sure if that is for all fleets, or just the 175.
