Starting CAE on Friday and driving up to Dallas tomorrow but I haven't gotten any hotel reservations from recruiting and no one seems to be picking up the phone over there? Any idea on whats going on/any idea on what I should do?

Quote: I don't know who exactly they meant were overstaffed, but I can assure you Envoy is not overstaffed. Critical coverage every month, blanket denials of PVDs, junior manning, etc...I assume you mean Coast is over capacity?
Take this as what it is but the Pilot recruiter Captain (whoever) that gave the brief that day said that as off that day the company was over staffed by 200 pilots. Also, that the RTP was backed up to about 10 months with no prior fixed wing flight time (not my case).

We are over staffed on paper, but it’s not noticeable on the line because the training department is so un-Godly behind. Thats why we are still declaring critical coverage and hardly any FO’s on reserve in MIA for example.

I can believe a recruiter told you that. But the notion that we are overstaffed at the moment is laughable. If you tell any line pilot we are overstaffed, they'd laugh in your face. If we were overstaffed, we wouldn't be zeroed out on reserves on a daily basis, we wouldn't be metering flow, we'd have zero and part time lines, we wouldn't be junior manning guys into days off, we would be able to get personal days approved etc....I'm not trying to give you grief, I just think it's asinine that recruiting is trying to say we're overstaffed.

So does this mean they're going to be slowing up on hiring soon?

This 175 FO has had three consecutive trips bought out for IOE, and they haven't used me once. I'm a lineholder who has only flown 5 days in September. Meanwhile they just sent out an HI6 that DFW 175 CA is critical for the entire month of October, and I can't remember the last month where that wasn't the case. Seems that they are lean in some areas and fat in others.

Overstaffed? HA! We are no where near overstaffed. There will be no slow down on hiring. Look at how that effected Compass. They stopped hiring for 6 months and when they started back they couldn't get any applications. If we're going to keep flowing, we have to keep hiring. Hiring and recruiting will continue to be a max effort because the company is always thinking about growth and expansion. They want more airplanes on the line. Those 40ish other 140s sitting at SJT aren't generating any revenue.

They are pulling all the 140s out of SJT. It's not hard to realize that we are heavier on FOs than CAs. With MIa opening up and ORD getting some 175s this will create even more short term surpluses and shortages. I don't think anyone has an exact number the number of pilots we are going to be. Suffice it to say we are going to hire as many as we can train. We will grow or shrink as hiring or attrition determines.

I really hope we can ramp up the training department and get through the back log so we can really get growing.

It's a shame they aren't able to create a abbreviated transition course for previous 121 guys. Considering the amount of guys they could potentially get from other regionals.. I am sure our friends at the FEDS would have a field day with that, but that could expedite the process a bit. I can tell you the indoc is generally the same at all companies except a few company specifics.

This is why I monitor the forums. It's crap like this that really grinds my gears. These recruiters are no better than the likes of Dacuj, dolphin-whatever (can't remember name). They just spout stuff out without any realistic evidence to back it up. Worst thing is they do it to NH just for that final lure and pull the sucker in. How about you recruit based on reality instead of fantasy? Oh nevermind, this is Envoy we are talking about.

I know I can't change it, but choosing an employer shouldn't be like visiting a car lot. "Who's going to screw me over the least?"
