For any FO’s forced to captain, you should review the FM-1. Captains must have a valid first class Medical while FOs only have to have a second class Medical. Just sayin...

It is interesting the way they ran the upgrade displacements. It appears they displaced people into seats they could hold, not just seats that were open. So really whats the point in bidding for an upgrade, if they are going to displace you you can hold the same position as if you proffered for the upgrade.

This is a mess.

OK, looks like I’m going to MCE, so a couple questions for the Miami folks.

1. What are trips typically like on the 145 in MIA? Out and backs only, or do you see lots of flying in other AA hubs (NY, ORD, etc)?

2. Where is the employee lot? Can’t find that info on the company site.

3. Good areas to live in the vicinity of the airport? Looking to move there (lived in SoFla before, but farther north) instead of commuting.

FOR the record

There was ONE (yes one) first Officer at the company that had the qualifications to be Captain, but was able to avoid a displacement. Everyone else that had the qualifications (1000 121 time), was displaced or proffered to displace to captain.

Even with this new (high value aviator program) there WILL NOT be enough qualified people in the next vacancy bid... in March/April. Mark My Words.

We should all bid reserve next month. That way we will show how much we love being forced to upgrade. Thought? That way there would be a bunch of open time, they would be in critical coverage and pay us 200% for doing the same flights.
$38 an hour first year fo on reserve flying critical coverage that's $76/hr. More than EDV. I'm just saying!!!!!!😀😀😀

So, if you were awarded the left seat on the last bid and on this one you were displaced to a different aircraft is that legal?

Yes. You're not locked until 2 weeks prior to start of training.

Well, that's a given.

The spring of 15 NHs were hired directly into the 175 for the most part. They are going to be reaching 1000 hours soon. There may be 50-75 guys reach 1000 hours in the next few months. After that the hiring ramped up and then the training back logs started. Getting the senior FOs out will help build time but that's not going to give relief for a while.

JMs and critical coverage is on the horizon for CAs.

So will they meter the flow even more now?

Street Captains should be next.

I think it was spring of 2016, not 2015 for the guys hired into the 175. And if you look at the displacement, there is about a whole page of those guys.

What is really f’d up about this is all the guys getting the 175 never flew them as FOs and all the FOs that flew 175s are now being forced into 145s (or possibly CRJs). You lose a lot of experience this way.
