Was talking to a new line holder (first month she got a line) and her line has 57 hours. She was upset that it's far below 76 hours she would receive on reserve. I thought she would get 76 hours minimum guarantee. Which one of us doesn't know how things work?

Oh don’t worry, she’ll get her line, some reserve, and 75.6+ hours

I'm googling to see what I can learn, but can you tell me why she's wrong?

Because being awarded a 57 hour line or whatever below 76 doesn’t mean you’ll just get 57 hours. You’ll be a composite line holder with 57 hours of scheduled flying plus how every many days of 4:12 on reserve to get you to the 76 hours. You have some scheduled some reserve but you get line holder protections.

Is there a specific base most new hire FOs are being assigned? Any educated guess how long it would take a new guy to get to IAH? Since the base (IAH) has both CRJ and ERJ, which would be the faster path? Thanks in advance.

There’s seniority for each base on the SkyWest Careers website
