I am about to start Indoc and I have a TON to learn about 121 operations, how to fly a jet, how to work efficiently in a crew environment, and much, much more. My ears will be wide-open and my mouth silent as I learn a lot from those that have gone before me. And I’ll be supportive and have fun with the crew I work for when the work day is done. But I do know that SkyWest, while not perfect by any means, is a pretty decent Regional to work for with a pretty good chunk of employees that are happy. I am in close contact with about two dozen OO pilots (and 7 of them are very close friends) and all of them are generally happy. Again, SkyWest is not a utopia, but it is a decent place to be. Shoot me down all you want for that, but that’s my take.
After a full year on property and the newness wears off, if I find out I’m wrong, I’ll be the first to admit it right here and I’ll seek you out and buy you dinner and ship a case of great craft beverages your way. But until then, I’m moving forward with excitement for the opportunities to come. I still think the future is bright and can’t wait to embrace the things to come. And even though you’ll likely move on to greener pastures before I’m on the line, if we ever cross paths on a trip, I’ll buy you a beer regardless. Life is about making the most out of things, taking care of each other (crew), and having fun.

Haven’t lectured a thing. The replies I made were to add to a counter perspective to the barrage of comments being made by some people that were basically saying SkyWest was a sinking ship and the worst regional on the planet. I think it is worth offering a different viewpoint for others reading this forum and thinking about coming here.

You’ve a good attitude. You’ll do well in class. It won’t take you a year to see what people are talking about though. The first one or two times they reassign you and you miss the commute home or miss out on planned events on your two days off, you’ll say ‘ah well, it happens”. The fourth or fifth time though, you will pay attention. Gets old missing out because company just does what they need to cover flights. The goodwill goes pretty quick.

Hey I’m on day 3 of my first IOE right now. I finished my LOE on the CRJ 8.5 weeks ago approx. I was expecting to wait longer but they squeezed my first trip in the 200 right before I go to differences next week.

Just curious as it has not been mentioned in some months, how far out are new hire class dates full now? Who has a class date further out than June?
Last I was hearing was June, but again, many months ago. Seems like the 'COVID' backlog as it has been referred to is clearing out in the industry. I also saw a comment mentioning that a class size was less than 40 people, when I have seen as much as 70 prior.

I always thought seniority was determined by the first day of indoc. I finished indoc and the bottom half of the class (myself included) was given a 3 week delay. I was under the assumption that our seniority was fixed but i just checked and am now over 150 spots lower than the pilots in the top half of my indoc class. What happened? Was I mistaken?

most people in my class are 8+ weeks now and being told to expect end of April maybe.
10+ weeks is a good bet right now for CRJ IOE. Unless you get lucky.
